1. Blame me not for kissing his cheek,
For he surpasses all in his beauty.

2. Your blame cannot make me turn from him,
When his glance has pierced my heart with arrows.

3. Yes, he is the full moon, but he rose
Above the full moon, with his perfect beauty increased.

4. Leave me lovesick and longing,
May time be kind and unite us.

5. The preacher says, how can you neglect guidance
And desire the religion of passion and error?

6. I said, puzzled by his talk,
Shall I neglect his love, unique in beauty,

7. As Al-Dawri in his justice and temperance?
Muhammad the generous, who attained

8. Through his unfailing kindness, and gave his bounty.
In battle he bore the awe of ‘Antarah,

9. And the courage of ‘Amr during the clashing of swords.
He erased ignorance from Egypt and taught its people

10. The good he disseminated among all people.
He approached the crowds of polytheists and their distress increased,

11. When they left their homes fearing his might.
His stature rose among kings through his lion cub,

12. Abu Al-Nasr Ibrahim, chief of his men.
To him God gave a spirit that humbles champions

13. When it attacks in war.
It destroys the enemy with swords in the fray,

14. And with a wrath that severs the misguided.
Through him and Abbas glory shone

15. And the noble tribe exulted in its majesty.
Indeed through Sa’eed Muhammad

16. The good fortune of Egypt blossomed since the crescent of his state shone.
The courage of this lion cub made clear to the world,

17. Through his outstanding achievements, the nobleness of his origin.
I seek refuge for Hussein and the wise Muhammad,

18. With my Lord, the Guide, the Intercessor, and his family.
