1. Good tidings of a noble son of the eminent Wahabi family
His banners have appeared from behind the curtains of dawn

2. The star of his birth rose in Egypt, becoming
A source of joy for non-Arabs and Arabs alike

3. Fate has granted what his father had wished of him
And this youth has attained that which is near

4. So how could it be otherwise, when he who meets him finds guidance
Lord of generosity and dew in residence and fertile land

5. He is the Prince whose fame’s banners
Have traveled from East to West on high

6. How could it be otherwise, he being a sea of virtues
With which gardens of decency are watered from his sweet springs

7. He is the eloquent one whose pens bow down
To the stature of prose and verse willingly

8. He is the man of letters whose eloquence
Surpasses rhythmic prose and prose poetry

9. He is the brilliant one whose wit makes light
Of seeking treatment with medicine

10. He is the astute one whose thoughts’ illumination
Clarifies the gloom of whatever grave matter occurs

11. He is the chief whose attributes’ perfection
Is too evident among people to count or measure

12. So who rivals him in the race track of honor
When he leads the pack in doing good and rising high

13. And who contends with him in knowledge, deed,
Wisdom, restraint, wariness and dignity

14. May he and his august son and progeny live on
With ease of spirit from generation to generation

15. Since the rising of this cub’s sun in the blessed
Third of Dhu al-Hijjah there’s been no other

16. Or my attending his birth feast among the community
Of the literary and companions but I’ve sung
