1. There is splendor on the land and in the meadow
A subtle kindness poured from heaven

2. How elegant the genuine gleamed, flowing with the transparency
Of rays, through which the vast space widens

3. Everything under the sky is in a
Rosy, reddish, dyed hue

4. As if the horizons embrace the earth
With its origin a gilded frame

5. Gladden the eye, behold, you see beauty
Now after a fleeting ravaged hour

6. That which adorns the land when the mantle of dusk removes
Is a captivating, smooth ray

7. A beautiful scene of the fields when the sun rises
And again when night falls

8. And a valley stream has shook me
With a grassy knoll on both its sides

9. The opposite reveals a thing.. and its likeness makes
For virtues and faults to compete

10. And so the fertile pasture is beautified
To onlookers by a barren pasture

11. Then evening crept forward led by birds
Frightened, and a south wind

12. And a song followed by as song, and shepherds
With their flocks crowding the paths

13. Detaining the eye due to the scattering of fireflies
In the sky a charming, revered scene

14. A wondrous dusk gradually, gradually
Melting under wings of darkness

15. And you see the clouds one layer after another
Cunningly arranged and organized

16. And you see it when the embers of the red dusk appear
To emerge amidst it and disappear

17. Like cinder from which an ember departed
Amidst an ignited forest

18. Then smoke covered the horizon billowing
From homes with flames and logs aflame

19. A scene that evokes serenity and comfort for the heart
Of the peasant when evening draws near

20. Who knows the delicious morsel in the house
That persevered hard working all day long

21. For an enjoyable evening gathering
Whose edges ooze kindness and aroma

22. And retired to his bed or bundle of hay
Drowsy. Slumbering. Dozing. Napping

23. Every creature calmed and settled
And even the creeping of insects provokes hearing

24. And encompasses them like death, a deep sleep
And a revered stillness covers them

25. And the still of night is surely pierced by wailings
And a rooster calling and another answering

26. Or the shouts of a guard in the gloaming
When something suspect appears before his eye

27. Or the echo of a "gunshot" which one of the two adversaries
Lies waiting for, while the other lies in ambush

28. The farmer left the farms for the dog
So he roams them going to and fro

29. Standing tall like one entrusted with authority
He has a demeanor and bearing

30. The toil of the peasant was lightened for him
While he feels secure, cultured

31. And at night he changes, at dawn a ferocious beast
Agitated, narrowed in chest, wrathful

32. Inspecting his claws and canine teeth, the best
Things he possesses, his claws and fangs

33. He is responsible for safeguarding the field
And would be blamed if he neglected his task

34. And it often delighted him to have spent
The night wounded.. his head gashed

35. So the master whom he deputized for can see
That his beast is vicious and wild

36. And so that he will not see tolerance
And reproach another and denounce

37. The peasants have an independent world
That is strange to any other world

38. Their sunset and the lulling of spirit
Are equal, as is their dawn and gusts of wind

39. Like the birds of the sky their sole
Concern is crops they graze and grains

40. They observe the sky, time and again
Their laughter obeying its mandate and freezing

41. Is the weather still or tempestuous?
Does the sky pour down or hold back its downpour?

42. However alluring the peasant's day is without
Clouds, a day of suffering it would be

43. And with clouds choking his heart and the horizon
Beautiful in his eyes, beloved

44. The villages have splendor and the villagers
When rain soaks their land

45. You see everyone, even the young girls
Above their markings, gladness and aroma

46. It brings joy to the home that it will evening
Cows and young lambs bleating

47. And the child sees that its share when
The parents have a good crop, a coat made of flax

48. Clever.. their eyes precede their tongues
In what they covet and ambition

49. And he who draws inspiration from the village world
Vitality and livelihood is perceptive

50. Content they dream that good
And evil, all is predetermined

51. They neither fly from joy or sadness
A moment, for it is anticipated

52. And they may get angry when rain comes
Meagerly..and the land thirsty and withered

53. As though God lacked water
Had a continual downpour come upon us!

54. Then they abhor the sin of what they said
Intending with Him to repent

55. So when the sun shines above them they say:
Does turning back in repentance incur more torture?!

56. Is our faith far from good
While our disbelief is nearer to it..!

57. Thus piety returns before
The mind which is the doubter, the defeated

58. I said when my mind drifted from an ocean
Where all in it is desolate and gloomy

59. It is not justice, the gloom of man in life
And in it this vast serene ocean

60. Fill your eyes with greenness that delights
The soul and heals hearts

61. They have, like others, wishes
And duties upon them like all

62. Except that life, where
Urbanity is totally misery

63. Every time securities are innovated
It is followed by types of afflictions

64. And it's as though happiness flashes lightning
Through the clouds then disappears

65. You do not see - unless love leaves
Pallor - a face shrouded in pallor

66. Then nothing about the sun is forbidden
Nor an eloquence withheld

67. The fluttering air, and light
And greenery bring what no doctor brings

68. Then in the name of harvest, in every field
A lover and his beloved confer

69. One of them said to another when
A fertile spring aroused them

70. Fine grew our crops, so she replied:
A crop grazed by a fine herder thrives

71. He said, how patient are the fields with people
She said, and likewise are hearts

72. What sickles do in them
Not what pricks and blames do

73. The crop rises again after harvest though
A gloomy heart may get uprooted

74. My gloomy heart fragmented by worries
As the fragmented dusty earth

75. And my eyes, why haven't they dried up..when what
Flows from the heart is plenty

76. They have a beautiful logic for love there
And have a style

77. And they have in romance much more than
Others, privation and avenues

78. Humor designated for them and jokes
Filled with creativity and refinement

79. Then beneath the cover possessed with love
Freely..and likewise forcibly seized

80. They sin. Then say: impossible
That there not be sins

81. We are virgin nature's growth, so in us
Good deeds..and in us faults

82. Our daughter and our son together watch the crop
And livestock..and conscience is watcher

83. We do not know what they do or know
Of what the pockets were loaded with

84. It is not upon us what is hidden from us, for with
God all appearances and secrets are counted

85. Except we know and we were youth
Pretending that beauty lures

86. And the lad unable, inclined toward
Maidens..and the girl playful

87. With pretense youth arouses and is fooled
As with wind kindling is provoked

88. Then upon meeting one knows whether she is
"Najeeba..!" or Najeep

89. Some men seem before love
Stern, while most melt

90. And experiences taught that man
Is naive, formed by experience

91. There's no harm that we suspect but
We wish not to see what makes suspicious

92. There is not in us -Thank God- even now
A household "its bucket overturned"

93. So if what we fear occurs, shedding blood
Is easy as sins poured

94. A logic closer to minds than what
A brother claiming chastity claims

95. And they sometimes allude "about us" that
All in our ocean is filled

96. So they say: from shame houses may fall
And wars may ignite

97. Yet upon us is spite but in villages
Every deficient is locked away

98. Among us like the "wicked lad" is mean
And a coward, a traitor, and a liar

99. Embarrassing people in villages that an individual
From kin is counted upon them

100. It is of the characteristics urbanities
That snobbery toward them is ascribed

101. In villages they broaden our traits
With shameful matters the "nomads" flaw

102. So they say: everything explicit
By us - by you a mixed fluid

103. By you features were confused and intermingled
Tongues, accents, and pronunciation

104. You are from examples of pure Arabs
Unjustly labeled Arabs!

105. Like bundles of goods a foreigner comes to you
From both worlds, stranger bundles

106. He is like family to you in everything
Yet is by us in everything proper

107. You praise wickedness, hostility
And betrayal as though one melting
