From a creeping, turbid atmosphere

19. And lurking reptiles watched through the clouds
An eagle shredding the wing of a crow

20. Certainty crept to shake uncertainty
Like dawn creeping through cracks in the door

21. Then it spread, battering the hearing of a skeptic
In it, and stamping the doubts of the doubtful

22. And a blessed night embraced it
At its time, recorded in the Book

23. Envied is its springtime by the seasons
Or the burning of the ugly among sheep

24. O eminent Sheikh, greetings
Deep in affection and admiration

25. For your good work you have given generously
Worthy of each noble deed and reward

26. And you accomplished this momentous matter
Without refusing or fearing it

27. You awed that you would bring closer an hour
That you have not shone from a day more splendid

28. You fulfilled Iraq’s aspirations and people
A body you have poured upon it the best attire

29. And you breathed life into a sweet hope
And placed its guide with the best composition

30. And removed distress to bestow fluttering bliss
And produced a meadow from blood and dust

31. And called on your party to gain spoils
It is of those seeking the five parties

32. And the youth’s statement of a giver’s littlest seed is:
The hand of the Giver arrived safely

33. You accomplished the difficult so you were the most truthful witness
That nothing is difficult upon seekers

34. The ambitions of men are close to one another
However they are...adjoined lineages

35. And reciprocated desires in their pursuits
Are firmer and swifter than the orbits

36. And the conscience can be came upon to guard it
In a blink with a message and response

37. A refuge on the day of “the victors” and welcome
To intimate adversaries, beloved friends

38. Estranged, though their hearts are
Revealed smiles, and brightened faces

39. A shared love of this fertile soil dissolved
The distance between them, their bones are mixed in it

40. And their hearts sympathized in it over time
And their graves are scattered in it, thus to them

41. In every house is the direction of prayer
How monstrous is man - civilization did not drive him

42. From the momentum of life in its tumultuous wave
He did not cease despite a suspicious civilization

43. Tempted by slaughter, obsessed with ruin
Vilely disfiguring a green oasis

44. With blood stains on the dusty ashes
Accursed are iniquitous eras that left behind

45. A curse from generations, the worst punishment

And letters have often cursed those it revealed

55. Standing in place of their clothes

60. From "Moslawiyyeh" and from "Ziryab"

61. Forever swirling with thousands of meteors
And light the paths of poetry, for its paths

62. If you do not arise, are winding
And be the guide to consciences, leading them

63. The ways of language, and the authority of grammar
And make "the paradises of imagination" my hobby

64. And the love of its brides from places of rest
Shape the letters into wonders and make them forget

65. As though you had not come with wonders
Seventy years and nights, giving birth

66. Openly, birthing you after prolonged agony
Your charms were rallied to please me

67. As though rallied to provoke my wrath
I called on my devil, so he responded best
