1. O Abu Mahnad, no affliction has befallen you,
Nor have defects climbed to your heights,

2. Nor have the plains of virtue been devoid of you,
Remaining inhabited when you are absent for an hour.

3. Your light has remained like the dawn,
Guiding generations, your guidance is hoped for.

4. O you who have clothed generations with your favors,
With which they wander upon their shoulders as robes.

5. And embracing “the eloquent Arabic language” which
Ignorance, mistakes, and lapses have toyed with,

6. And the dawn of thought in its darkness is a flame,
Just as the dew transforms a lush meadow.

7. It gladdens you that the fields of knowledge celebrate
That you are safe, and the plains of glory plead.
