2. And do not look back to family or homeland

3. How many journeys have brought glory that makes
The necks of men bow, and how many have begotten blessings

4. And how many a stay of the arrogant has brought him
Ruin and led tribulation to assail him

5. So listen and do not neglect the wisdom I have composed
For the possessor of resolve has never ceased to extract wisdom

6. None shed tears when their eyes grew dim
Or their eyelids folded, except out of fear of impending blindness

7. Know that death in the eyes of people of merit
Is the same as disgrace - the matter is trivial or momentous

8. Whoever makes peace with people, his fighters will not be safe from them
And whoever wrongs them will be secure

9. None accepts humiliation except the weak and pleading
When they see evil boil, their pots bubble and foam

10. The perceptive are not pleased with any slight -
Even if they find no refuge but the edges of their robes for protection

11. The ignoble - if you flay their skin with the blades of injustice
They would not feel any pain

12. Whoever sees humiliation as dishonor, no spark of it will pass by him
Without it singeing him black

13. And all glory, if its pillar is not built
With determination, will be pecked by enemies until it collapses

14. The incompetent cannot control affairs -
The iota is not equal to the jot

15. And houses have pillars they stand by
They were not created to stoop or bend

16. Not every climber can reach the heights
One who wields the sword against his enemies rules

17. One who fiercely brandishes the sword to defend glory
Has the right to fiercely brandish the pen

18. Seek counsel only from a trusted brother
One who does not offer knowledge cannot transmit it

19. And one is not deemed generous if his gifts
Keep flowing morning and eve to his enemies

20. Stinginess is better than charity towards some people -
The most righteous of them towards you is he who reviles and curses

21. Placing generosity amongst enemies of your blessings
Is like placing a lamb among ravenous wolves

ูขูก. ูˆูŽูˆุงุถูุนู ุงู„ุฌููˆุฏู ููŠ ุฃูŽุนุฏุงุกู ู†ูุนู…ูŽุชูู‡ู
ูƒูŽู…ููˆุฏูุนู ุงู„ุฐูุฆุจู ููŠ ุจูŽุฑูู‘ูŠูŽู‘ุฉู ุบูŽู†ูŽู…ุง

22. Whoever insolently deemed the elite as trivial was struck
By fate on his palm and he regretted with lasting regret

ูขูข. ู…ูŽู†ู ุงูุณุชูŽุฎูŽููŽู‘ ุจูุฃูŽุฑุจุงุจู ุงู„ุนูู„ู‰ ุณูŽููŽู‡ุงู‹

23. Ask about Kulayb - how his attacker disputed him
Did he do anything but protect and hurl?

ูขูฃ. ุฃูŽู„ุง ููŽุณูŽู„ ุนูŽู† ูƒูู„ูŽูŠุจู ูƒูŽูŠููŽ ุฌูŽุฏูŽู‘ู„ูŽู‡ู
ุฌูŽุณู‘ุงุณู ู‡ูŽู„ ูƒุงู†ูŽ ุฅูู„ู‘ุง ุฃูŽู† ุญูŽู…ู‰ ููŽุฑูŽู…ู‰

24. And the young man has no honor but through his clan
Even if he possesses in war an aging piercing blade

ูขูค. ูˆูŽู„ุง ูŠุนุฒูู‘ ุงู„ููŽุชู‰ ุฅูู„ู‘ุง ุจูุฃูุณุฑูŽุชูู‡ู
ู„ูŽูˆ ูƒุงู†ูŽ ููŠ ุงู„ุจูŽุฃุณู ุนูŽู…ุฑุงู‹ ูˆูŽุงู„ู†ูŽุฏู‰ ู‡ูŽุฑูู…ุง

25. Do not agree to humiliation from those you socialize with
For you will not see anything but an abasing neighbor

ููŽู„ูŽู† ุชูŽุฑู‰ ุบูŽูŠุฑูŽ ุฌุงุฑู ุงู„ุฐูู„ูู‘ ู…ูู‡ุชูŽุถูŽู…ุง

26. And the greatest failure in purpose is the lord of a kingdom
Who obeys its women and servants in his affairs

27. And one said to me when my glory amazed him
"A person may sometimes err unwittingly"

28. And that was after he asked me about my news
And honesty is my quality even if it left me mute

29. Why didn't you praise the men of Iraq who possess
Heaped money and flowing generosity that eliminates poverty?"

30. So my soul raged with injustice until
My eyes flooded with tears that overflowed and merged

32. I am stoic in the face of the blows of fate
My stiff blade penetrating raging calamities

33. And I am not the first man of glory who was wronged
By the twisting days of time as it engulfed in darkness

34. Noble station evades me out of desire
To preserve my soul from ambitious pursuit

ุฃูŽู† ุฃูŽูˆุฑูุฏูŽ ุงู„ู†ูŽูุณูŽ ุญูุฑุตุงู‹ ู…ูŽูˆุฑูุฏุงู‹ ูˆูŽุฎูู…ุง

35. I am the son of the pillars of the House of Glory - no lies!
And we are its summit dwellers and peaks

36. My people are the people of valor and nobility
If anyone else claims what is in them, they lie

37. In pre-Islamic times, we empowered every nobleman
With glorious deeds, and we empowered the Arabs and non-Arabs

38. And every Bedouin tribe became our followers
Shepherded by our sharp Indian swords wherever they roamed

39. We brought low the Nizar and warded off its sanctities
Until no protected holy site for its glory remained

ูˆูŽู„ูŽู… ู†ูŽุฏูŽุน ู„ูู…ูู†ุงูˆูŠ ุนุฒูู‘ู‡ุง ุญูŽุฑูŽู…ุง

40. Until Allah brought Islam and opened up
All the lands to become frequented by all people

ูคู . ุญูŽุชู‘ู‰ ุฃูŽุชู‰ ุงู„ู„ูŽู‡ู ุจูุงู„ุฅูุณู„ุงู…ู ูˆูŽุงููุชูŽุชูŽุญูŽุช

41. The superiority of our predecessors over our latter ones
Suffices, but the sea raged and crashed

42. We constructed from glory an incomparable house
Though not one held up by columns that cannot be shaken

43. Ask the Qarmatians who split open their skulls
Barely escaping, leaving their servants as easy prey

44. After their situation was reversed in Bahrain
And they shook Syria with raids and violations
