The necks of men bow, and how many have begotten blessings

٣. كَم رِحلَةٍ وَهَبَت عِزّاً تَدينُ لَهُ
شُوسُ الرِجالِ وَكَم قَد أَورَثَت نِعَما

4. And how many a stay of the arrogant has brought him
Ruin and led tribulation to assail him

٤. وَكَم إِقامَةِ مَغرُورٍ لَهُ جَلَبَت
حَتفاً وَساقَت إِلى ساحاتِهِ النِقَما

5. So listen and do not neglect the wisdom I have composed
For the possessor of resolve has never ceased to extract wisdom

٥. وَاِسمَع وَلا تُلغِ ما أَنشَأتُ مِن حِكَمٍ
فَذُو الحِجا لَم يَزَل يَستَنبِطُ الحِكَما

6. None shed tears when their eyes grew dim
Or their eyelids folded, except out of fear of impending blindness

٦. لَم يَبكِ مَن رَمِدَت عَيناهُ أَو سُبِلَت
جفناهُ إِلّا لِخَوفٍ مِن حُدوثِ عَمى

7. Know that death in the eyes of people of merit
Is the same as disgrace - the matter is trivial or momentous

٧. إِنَّ المَنِيَّةَ فَاِعلَم عِندَ ذِي حَسَبٍ
وَلا الدَنِيَّةَ هانَ الأَمرُ أَو عَظُما

8. Whoever makes peace with people, his fighters will not be safe from them
And whoever wrongs them will be secure

٨. مَن سالَمَ الناسَ لَم تَسلَم مَقاتِلُهُ
مِنهُم وَمَن عاثَ فيهِم بِالأَذى سَلِما

9. None accepts humiliation except the weak and pleading
When they see evil boil, their pots bubble and foam

٩. لا يَقبَلُ الضَيمَ إلّا عاجِزٌ ضَرِعٌ
إِذا رَأى الشَرَّ تَغلي قِدرُهُ وَجَما

10. The perceptive are not pleased with any slight -
Even if they find no refuge but the edges of their robes for protection

١٠. وَذُو النَباهَةِ لا يَرضى بِمَنقَصَةٍ

11. The ignoble - if you flay their skin with the blades of injustice
They would not feel any pain

١١. وَذُو الدَناءَةِ لَو مَزَّقتَ جِلدَتَهُ
بِشَفرَةِ الضَيمِ لَم يَحسِس لَها أَلَما

12. Whoever sees humiliation as dishonor, no spark of it will pass by him
Without it singeing him black

١٢. وَمَن رَأَى الضَيمَ عاراً لَم تَمُرَّ بِهِ
شَرارَةٌ مِنهُ إلّا خالَها أُطُما

13. And all glory, if its pillar is not built
With determination, will be pecked by enemies until it collapses

١٣. وَكُلُّ مَجدٍ إِذا لَم يُبن مَحتِدُهُ
بِاليَأسِ نَقَّرَهُ الأَعداءُ فَاِنهَدَما

14. The incompetent cannot control affairs -
The iota is not equal to the jot

١٤. لا يَضبطُ الأَمرَ مَن في عُودِهِ خَوَرٌ
لَيسَ البُغاثُ يُساوي أَجدَلاً قَطِما

15. And houses have pillars they stand by
They were not created to stoop or bend

١٥. وَلِلبُيوتِ سِطاعاتٌ تَقُومُ بِها
لا خِروَعاً جُعِلَت يَوماً وَلا عَنَما

16. Not every climber can reach the heights
One who wields the sword against his enemies rules

١٦. ما كُلُّ ساعٍ إِلى العَلياءِ يُدرِكُها
مَن حَكّمَ السَيفَ في أَعدائِهِ حَكَما

17. One who fiercely brandishes the sword to defend glory
Has the right to fiercely brandish the pen

١٧. مَن أَرعَفَ السَيفَ مِن هامِ العِدى غَضَباً
لِلمَجدِ حُقَّ لَهُ أَن يُرعِفَ القَلَما

18. Seek counsel only from a trusted brother
One who does not offer knowledge cannot transmit it

١٨. لا تَطلُبِ الرَأيَ إِلّا مِن أَخي ثِقَةٍ
لا يُصدِرُ القَومَ مَن لا يُورِدُ العَلَما

19. And one is not deemed generous if his gifts
Keep flowing morning and eve to his enemies

١٩. وَلا يُعَدُّ كَريماً مَن مَواهِبُهُ
تُمسي وَتُصبِحُ في أَعدائِهِ دِيما

20. Stinginess is better than charity towards some people -
The most righteous of them towards you is he who reviles and curses

٢٠. وَالبُخلُ خَيرٌ مِنَ الإِحسانِ في نَفَرٍ

٢٥. لا تَرضَ بِالهُونِ في خِلٍّ تُعاشِرُهُ
فَلَن تَرى غَيرَ جارِ الذُلِّ مُهتَضَما

26. And the greatest failure in purpose is the lord of a kingdom

٢٦. وَأَخسَرُ الناسِ سَعياً رَبُّ مَملَكَةٍ
أَطاعَ في أَمرِهِ النِسوانَ وَالخَدَما

٣١. فَقُلتُ كَلّا وَهَل مِثلي يَليقُ بِهِ
مَدحُ الرِجالِ فَكَم جُرحٍ قَدِ اِلتَأَما

32. I am stoic in the face of the blows of fate
My stiff blade penetrating raging calamities

٣٢. إِنّي عَلى حادِثاتِ الدَهرِ ذُو جَلَدٍ
تَجلُو الحَوادِثُ مِنّي صارِماً خَذِما

33. And I am not the first man of glory who was wronged
By the twisting days of time as it engulfed in darkness

٣٣. وَلَستُ أَوَّلَ ذِي مَجدٍ لَهُ ظَلَمَت
صُرُوفُ أَيّامِهِ العَوصاءُ فَاِنظَلَما

34. Noble station evades me out of desire
To preserve my soul from ambitious pursuit

٣٤. يَأبي لِيَ الشَرَفُ العاليُّ مَنصِبهُ
أَن أَورِدَ النَفسَ حِرصاً مَورِداً وَخِما

35. I am the son of the pillars of the House of Glory - no lies!
And we are its summit dwellers and peaks

٣٥. أَنا اِبنُ أَركانِ بَيتِ المَجدِ لا كَذِباً
وَالنازِلينَ ذُرى العَلياءِ وَالقِمَما

36. My people are the people of valor and nobility
If anyone else claims what is in them, they lie

٣٦. قَومي هُمُ القَومُ في بَأسٍ وَفي كَرَمٍ
إِنِ اِدَّعى غَيرُهُم ما فيهِمُ وَهِما

37. In pre-Islamic times, we empowered every nobleman
With glorious deeds, and we empowered the Arabs and non-Arabs

٣٧. في الجاهِلِيَّةِ سُدنا كُلَّ ذي شَرَفٍ
بِالمَأثُراتِ وَسُدنا العُربَ وَالعَجَما

38. And every Bedouin tribe became our followers
Shepherded by our sharp Indian swords wherever they roamed

٣٨. وَصارَ كُلُّ مَعَدّيٍّ لَنا تَبَعاً
يَرعى بِأَسيافِنا الوَسمِيَّ حِيثُ هَمى

٣٩. حُطنا نِزاراً وَذُدنا عَن مَحارِمِها

All the lands to become frequented by all people

٤٠. حَتّى أَتى اللَهُ بِالإِسلامِ وَاِفتَتَحَت
كُلَّ البِلادِ وَأَضحَت لِلأَنامِ سَما

41. The superiority of our predecessors over our latter ones
Suffices, but the sea raged and crashed

٤١. وَفَضلُ آخِرنا عَن فَضلِ أَوَّلِنا
يُغني ولَكِنَّ بَحراً هاجَ فاِلتَطَما

42. We constructed from glory an incomparable house
Though not one held up by columns that cannot be shaken

٤٢. شِدنا مِن المَجدِ بَيتاً لا تُقاسُ بِهِ
ذاتُ العِمادِ وَلَكِن لَم نَكُن إِرَما

Barely escaping, leaving their servants as easy prey

٤٣. سَلِ القَرامِطَ مَن شَظّى جَماجِمَهُم
فَلقاً وَغادَرَهُم بَعدَ العُلا خَدَما

44. After their situation was reversed in Bahrain
And they shook Syria with raids and violations

٤٤. مِن بَعدِ أَن جَلَّ بِالبَحرَينِ شَأنُهُمُ
وَأَرجَفُوا الشامَ بِالغاراتِ وَالحَرَما

45. And their horses continued covering its plains
At times rushing Adam

٤٥. وَلَم تَزَل خَيلُهُم تَغشى سَنابِكُها
أَرضَ العِراقِ وَتَغشى تارَةً أَدَما

46. And they burned ʿAbd Qays in its dwellings
And turned the cream of its elite into coal

٤٦. وَحَرَّقُوا عَبدَ قَيسٍ في مَنازِلها
وَصَيَّروا الغُرَّ مِن ساداتِها حُمَما

47. And they abolished the five daily prayers and violated
The month of fasting and revived idolatry

٤٧. وَأَبطَلوا الصَلواتِ الخَمس وَاِنتَهَكُوا
شَهرَ الصِيامِ وَنَصُّوا مِنهُمُ صَنَما

48. And we do not know of a single mosque they built for God

٤٨. وَما بَنَوا مَسجِداً لِلّهِ نَعرِفُهُ
بَل كُلُّ ما أَدرَكُوهُ قائِماً هُدِما

49. Until we defended Islam, and our expert horsemen mobilized
Seeking from us the custom which did not fail them

٤٩. حَتّى حَمَينا عَلى الإِسلامِ وَاِنتَدَبَت
مِنّا فَوارِسُ تَجلُو الكربَ وَالظُلما

50. And the sons of our uncles asked us for it
But they did not find in us any tyranny or deafness

٥٠. وَطالَبَتنا بَنُو الأَعمامِ عادَتَنا
فَلَم تَجِد بَكَماً فينا وَلا صَمَما

51. And they entrusted leadership over us to Majid the glorious

٥٦. فَشَنَّها غارَةً شَعواءَ ناشِئَةً

٥٩. فَكَم صَرِيعٍ هَوى عَفصاً بِشِكَّتِهِ

٦٠. وَنَثرَةٍ أَخفَرَ الهِندِيُّ ذِمَّتَها

٦١. فَاِستَنجَدَت عامِراً مِن بَأسِها فَأَتَت

But in spirits we are the loftiest of people in rank

٦٤. وَلَم نَزَل نَرِدُ الهَيجاءَ يَقدُمُنا
ماضٍ على الهَولِ وَرّادٌ إِذا عَزَما

65. We did not cease repelling the excited newcomers
Led by resolute determination disregarding horrors

٦٥. أَبُو عَلِيٍّ وَفَضلُ ذُو النَدى وَأَبُو
مُسَيَّبٍ وَهُما تَحتَ العَجاجِ هُما

66. Abu ʿAlī, Fadl the glorious, Abu
Musayyab and with them both beneath the sky

٦٦. وَمِسعَرُ الحَربِ مَسعُودٌ إِذا خَمَدَت

٧٠. وَمِن بَني الشَيخِ عَبدِ اللَهِ كُلُّ فَتىً
يُخالُ في الرَوعِ فَحلَ الشَولِ مُغتَلِما

71. And from the Sheikh ʿAbdullah's clan are noble youths
Resembling in dusk the pitch dark night

٧١. يُنمى لِفَضلٍ وَصبّارٍ وَإِخوَتِهِ
بَني عَلِيٍّ كِعامِ الخَطبِ إِذ هَجَما

72. They vie in glory with Fadl, Sabbar and their brothers
The clan of ʿAlī when matters turn grave

٧٢. وَلَم تَكُن وُلدُ غَسّانٍ إِذا حَمِيَت
لَوافِحُ الحَربِ أَنكاساً وَلا قُرُما

73. And were it not for the protection of Bani Al-Jarrah from him
Damascus would have met Dahmash or brought to ruin

٧٣. تِلكُم بَناتُ العُلا لا قَولُ مُنتَحِلٍ
كُنّا وَكانَ وَلا باعاً وَلا قَدَما

76. From us is he who planted two spears wide apart
And who wed the purebred Arabs one to another

٧٦. بَزُّوا ثَمانينَ دِرعاً مِن سُراتِهِمُ
في حَملَةٍ تَرَكَت هاماتِهِم رِمَما

77. Until he contained whichever tribe of them he preferred
Forcibly - while the groans of who he subjugated were disregarded

٧٧. وَكَم لَنا مِثلُها لَم تُبقِ باقِيَةً
إِلّا الزَعانِفَ وَالأَطفالَ وَالحَرَما

78. And the day of Sutrah one of us owned it when
An Umayyad prince met him along with the grim-facedcutting swords

٧٨. فَسَلَّمَ الأَمرَ أَهلُ الأَمرِ وَاِنتَزَحُوا
عَن سَورَةِ المُلكِ لا زُهداً وَلا كَرَما

79. Two thousand he left of them after eight hundred corpses
So how many orphans were left afterwards crying?

٧٩. وَأَصبَحَت آلُ عَبدِ القَيسِ قَد ثَلَجَت
صُدُورُها فَتَرى المَوتُورَ مُبتَسِما

80. From us is Abu Yusuf and the hopeful Hasan
And the son of the Emirate and the prosperous house they both

٨٠. ثُمَّ اِنتَحَينا لِعَوفٍ بَعدَما وَرِمَت
أُنُوفُها فَفَشَشنا ذَلِكَ الوَرَما

81. And Yusuf, Abu Shukr and his brothers
The halo of glory and like the pillar of eras when resolute

٨١. دُسناهُمُ دَوسَةً مِرِّيَّةً جَمَعَت
أَشلاهُمُ وَضِباعَ الجَوِّ وَالرَخَما

82. From us is he who invalidated Al-Mashush so his traces
Were erased and forgotten among men and obliterated

٨٢. لَم يَنجُ غَيرُ رَئيسِ القَومِ تَحمِلُهُ
خَيفانَةٌ كَظَليمٍ رِيعَ تَحتَ سَما

83. From us is the Emir Abu Fadl - when the quarrelsome
Warring tribes disputed it was he who arbitrated

٨٣. ثُمَّ اِنثَنَينا بِجُردِ الخَيلِ نَجنِبُها
نَقائِذاً وَأَفَأنا السَبيَ وَالنَعَما

84. He never faced a thousand except that they withdrew escaping
As if they were beasts meeting well-armed lions

٨٤. وَسَل بِقارُونَ هَل فازَت كَتائِبُهُ
لَمّا أَتَتنا وَهَل كُنّا لَهُم غُنَما

85. From us are the Emir Hawarī and his father -
So mention them both for they were most righteous and noble

٨٥. وَالشَرسَكِيَّة إِذ جاءَت تُطالِبُنا
دَمَ النُفوسِ وَفينا تقسِمُ القِسَما

86. And in Suleim we take pride and have
Muflih and they both are to God their worth

٨٦. بَيتانِ عِندَهُما كانَت رَعِيَّتُنا
عَوناً عَلَينا ضَلالاً مِنهُمُ وَعَمى

87. And we have in an Emir and Sultan honor
We ascend through - and Ibn Badr the glorious lion after them

٨٧. فَفَرَّجَ اللَهُ وَالبِيضُ الحِدادُ لَنا
وَعِزَّةٌ لَم تَكُن يَوماً لِمَن غَشَما

88. From us are Abu Fadil and Al Lawdhaʿī Abu
Mudhakkir - so let us pride in their likes

٨٨. وَأَصبَحَت حاسِدُونا في قَبائِلِنا
لَحماً أَقامَ لَهُ جَزّارُهُ وَضَما

89. And what are Husayn and Badr when I mention them
But two ambitions their glory surpassed all people's

٨٩. لَكِن عَفَونا وَكانَ العَفوُ عادَتَنا
وَلَم نُؤاخِذ أَخا جُرمٍ بِما اِجتَرَما

90. From us is he who relieved his subjects of all
Unjust taxes so grievous injustice was obliterated

٩٠. وَلَم يُنَجِّ اِبنَ عَيّاشٍ بِمُهجَتِهِ
يَمٌّ إِذا ما يَراهُ الناظِرُ اِرتَسَما

91. And how many heroes of Bani Al-Biʿthī we have
Who routed the enemy if they sighted their banner

٩١. أَتى مُغِيراً فَوافَى جَوَّ ناظِرَةٍ
فَعايَنَ المَوتَ مِنّا دُونَ ما زَعَما

92. From us are the three and the singular who met
Armies - like Abu Sayyal when he harbored enmity

٩٢. فَراحَ يَطرُدُ طَردَ الوَحشِ لَيسَ يَرى
حَبلَ السَلامَةِ إِلّا السَوطَ وَالقَدَما

93. You invoke ʿUjaybah at times, and Awinah
Umm Al-ʿUjresh and Al-Hijjaf between them

٩٣. فَاِنصاعَ نَحوَ أَوالٍ يَبتَغي عِصَماً
إِذ لَم يَجِد في نَواحي الخَطِّ مَعتَصما

94. The day of Al-Juraiʿah they did not cower nor coward
Rather they all unsheathe its flames barefoot

٩٤. فَأَقحَمَ البَحرَ مِنّا خَلفَهُ مَلِكٌ
مازالَ مُذ كانَ لِلأَهوالِ مُقتَحما

95. From us are the eighty men who were on
The day of Al-Qatīʿah the most loyal of groups to their pact

٩٥. فَحازَ مُلكَ أَوالٍ بَعدَ ما تَرَكَ ال
عَكرُوتَ بِالسَيفِ لِلبَوغاءِ مُلتَزِما

96. They met three thousand yet did not waver from them
Nor harbored any fear or anxiety

٩٦. فَصارَ مُلكُ اِبنِ عَيّاشٍ وَمُلكُ أَبي ال
بَهلُولِ مَع مُلكِنا عِقداً لَنا نُظِما

97. And stabbed them until their stabbing arms grew weary
Of he who thought them sheep when they came

٩٧. مَن ذا يُقاسُ بِعَبدِ اللَهِ يَومَ وَغىً
في بَأسِهِ أَو يُباري جُودهُ كَرَما

98. Their forefathers deeds on the day of Rukeyn and whoever
Resembles his father cannot be, by God, blamed

٩٨. مِنّا الَّذي جادَ بِالنَفسِ الخَطيرَةِ في
عِزِّ العَشيرَةِ حَتّى اِستَرحَلَ العَجَما

99. When the ascent scattered their heights the day of Al-Qasr
Against the non-Arabs until they were left perplexed

٩٩. مِنّا الَّذي قامَ سُلطانُ العِراقِ لَهُ
جَلالَةً وَالمَدى وَالبُعدُ بَينَهُما

100. We are the thoroughbreds so who disbelieves our blessings?
Once extinct, fate brought the demise nearer and nearer

١٠٠. مِنّا الَّذي حازَ مِن ثاجٍ إِلى قَطَرٍ
وَصَيَّرَ الرَملَ مِن مالِ العَدُوِّ حِمى

101. Our verses are a returning place for those hopeful
When the days are seen as a wandering caravan or a shelter

١٠١. مِنّا الَّذي حينَ عَدَّ الأَلفَ خازِنُهُ
لِضَيفِهِ قالَ ضاعِفها أَرى أَمَما

102. And I have not counted even a tenth of our virtues
And who can count motes accumulating heavily?

١٠٢. مِنّا الَّذي مِن نَداهُ ماتَ عامِلُهُ
غَمّاً وَأَصبَحَ في الأَمواتِ مُختَرَما

١٠٣. مِنّا الَّذي جادَ إِيثاراً بِما مَلَكَت
كَفّاهُ لا يَدَ يَجزِيها وَلا رَحِما

١٠٤. مِنّا الَّذي أَنهَبَ اِصطَبلاتِهِ كَرَماً
وَهيَ الجِيادُ اللَواتي فاتَتِ القِيَما

١٠٥. وَكانَ إِن سارَ فَالعِقيانُ تَتبَعُهُ
لِسائِلٍ رُدَّ أَو مُستَرفِدٍ حُرِما

١٠٦. مِنّا الَّذي فَضَّ أَموالَ الخَزائِنِ في
غَوثِ الرَعِيَّةِ لا قَرضاً وَلا سَلَما

١٠٧. وَأَهمَلَ الدَخلَ ذاكَ العامَ فَاِنتَعَشَت
بِهِ الرَعِيَّة حَتّى جازَتِ القُحَما

١٠٨. مِنّا الَّذي جَعَلَ الأَقطاعَ مِن كَرَمٍ
إِرثاً تَوَزَّعُهُ الوُرّاثُ مُقتَسَما

١٠٩. وَجادَ في بَعضِ يَومٍ وَهوَ مُرتَفِقٌ
بِأَربَعينَ جَواداً تَعلُكَ اللُجُما

١١٠. وَمُطعِم الطَيرِ عامَ المَحلِ فَاِسمُ بِهِ
مِنّا إِذا صَرَّ خِلفُ الغَيثِ فَاِنصَرَما

١١١. مِنّا الَّذي أَنفَقَ الأَموالَ عَن عَرضٍ
حَتّى رَأَى شِعبَ شَملِ العِزِّ مُلتَئِما

١١٢. مِلءَ المُسُوكِ قَناطيراً مُقَنطَرَةً
ما خافَ في جَمعِها حُوباً وَلا أَثَما

١١٣. مِنّا المُسَوَّرُ تَعظيماً وَوالِدُهُ
كَذاكَ كانَ فَنَحنُ السادَةُ العُظَما

١١٤. مِنّا الَّذي كُلَّ يَومٍ فَوقَ دارَتِهِ
داعٍ يُنادي إِلَيهِ الجائِعَ الضَرِما

١١٥. مِنّا الَّذي لَم يَدَع ناراً بِساحَتِهِ
تذكى سِوى نارِهِ لِلضّيفِ إِن قَدِما

١١٦. وَصاحِبُ البَيتِ مِنّا حِينَ تَنسِبُهُ
لَو لَم نَجِد غَيرَهُ سُدنا بِهِ الأمَما

١١٧. مِنّا الَّذي عامَ حَربِ النائِليِّ حَلا
يَومَ السُبَيعِ وَيَومَ الخائِسِ الغُمَما

١١٨. مِنّا الَّذي مَنَعَ الأَعداءَ هَيبَتهُ
حَربَ البِلادِ فَما شَدّوا لَهُ حُزُما

١١٩. وَماتَ يَطلُبُ يَوماً يَستَلِذُّ بِهِ
يُطَبِّقُ الأَرضَ نَقعاً وَالحَضيضَ دَما

١٢٠. مِنّا الَّذي ضُرِبَت حُمرُ القِبابِ لَهُ
بِالمَشهَدَينِ وَأَعطى الأَمنَ وَاِنتَقَما

١٢١. لَولا عِياذُ بَني الجَرّاحِ مِنهُ بِهِ
لَصاحَبَت دَهمَشاً أَو أُلحِقَت دَرِما

١٢٢. مِنّا الَّذي أصحَبَ المُجتازَ مِن حَلَبٍ
إِلى العِراقِ إِلى نَجدٍ إِلى أَدَما

١٢٣. مِنّا الَّذي كُلَّ عامٍ بِالعِراقِ لَهُ
رَسمٌ سَنِيٌّ إِلى أَن ضُمِّنَ الرُجَما

١٢٤. مِنّا الَّذي رَكَزَ الرُمحَينِ ضاحِيَةً
وَجَوّزَ العَرَبَ العَرباءَ بَينَهُما

١٢٥. حَتّى اِحتَوى ما اِصطَفاهُ مِن عَقائِلَها
غَصباً وَهانَ عَلَيهِ رَغمُ مَن رَغِما

١٢٦. وَيَومَ سُترَةَ منّا كانَ صاحِبُهُ
لاقَت بِهِ شامَةٌ وَالحاشِكُ الرَقِما

١٢٧. أَلفَينِ غادَرَ مِنهُم مَع ثَمانِ مئىٍ
صَرعى فَكَم مُرضَعٍ مِن بَعدها يَتُما

١٢٨. مِنّا أَبُو يُوسُفٍ وَالمُرتَجى حَسَنٌ
وَاِبنُ الإِمارَةِ وَالبَيتِ المُنيفِ هُما

١٢٩. وَيُوسُفٌ وَأَبُو شُكرٍ وَإِخوَتُهُ
حَليُ العُلا وَكِعامُ الدَهرِ إِن عَزَما

١٣٠. مِنّا الَّذي أَبطَلَ الماشُوشَ فَاِنقَطَعَت
آثارُهُ وَاِنمَحى في الناسِ وَاِنطَسَما

١٣١. مِنّا الأَميرُ أَبو فَضلٍ مَتى اِختَصَمَت
بَنُو الوَغى كانَ في أَرواحِها الحَكَما

١٣٢. ما قابَلَ الأَلفَ إِلَّا وَاِنثَنَت هَرَباً
كَأَنَّها الوَحشُ لاقَت ضَيغَماً قَرِما

١٣٣. منّا الأَميرُ حَوارِيٌّ وَوالِدُهُ
فَاِذكُرهُما فَلَقد طابا وَقَد كَرُما

١٣٤. وَفي سُليمٍ لَنا عِزٌّ وَمُفتخَرٌ
وَمُفلِحٌ وَهُما لِلّهِ دَرُّهُما

١٣٥. وَفي أَمِيرٍ وَسُلطانٍ لَنا شَرَفٌ
نَسمو بِهِ وَاِبنُ بَدرِ اللَيثُ بَعدَهُما

١٣٦. مِنّا أَبو فاضِلٍ وَاللَوذَعيُّ أَبُو
مَذكُورٍ القرمُ فَلنَفخَر بِمثلِهِما

١٣٧. وَما حُسَينٌ وَبَدرٌ إِن ذَكَرتُهُما
إِلّا هُمامانِ فاقَ الناسَ مَجدُهُما

١٣٨. مِنّا الَّذي حَطَّ زُهداً عَن رَعِيَّتهِ
كُلَّ المُكُوسِ فَأَضحى الجَورُ مُنحَسِما

١٣٩. وَكَم لَنا مِن بَني البَيعِيِّ مِن بَطَلٍ
إِذا رَأى مِن عَدُوٍّ هامَةً صَدَما

١٤٠. مِنّا الثَلاثَةُ وَالفردُ الَّذينَ لَقُوا
كَتائِباً كَأبي السَيّالِ حِينَ طَما

١٤١. تَدعُو عَجِيبَةَ أَحياناً وَآوِنَةً
أُمُّ العَجرَّشِ وَالحَجّافِ بَينَهُما

١٤٢. يَومَ الجُرَيعاءِ ما خامُوا وَما جَبُنوا
بَل كُلُّهُم يَصطَلي نِيرانَها قَدَما

١٤٣. مِنّا الرِجالُ الثَمانُونَ الَّذينَ هُمُ
يَومَ القَطيعَةِ أَوفى مَعشَرٍ ذِمَما

١٤٤. لاقُوا ثَلاثَةَ آلافٍ وَما جَبُنُوا
عَنهُم وَلا اِستَشعَرُوا خَوفاً وَلا بَرَما

١٤٥. فَطاعَنُوهُم إِلى أَن عافَ طَعنَهُمُ
مَن كانَ يَحسِبُهُم غُنماً إِذا قَدما

١٤٦. أَفعالُ آبائِهِم يَومَ الرُكَينِ وَمَن
يُشبِه أَبَاهُ فَلا وَاللَهِ ما ظَلَما

١٤٧. إِذ طَيَّرَ التَلَّ يَومَ القَصرِ كَرُّهُمُ
عَلى الأَعاجِمِ حَتّى بادَ بَينَهُما

١٤٨. نَحنُ الثِمالُ فَمَن يَكفُر بِنِعمَتِنا
كُنّا المُثَمَّلَ يُدني الحَتفَ وَالسَقَما

١٤٩. أَبياتُنا لِذَوي الآمالِ مُنتَجَعٌ
إِذا الزَمانُ يُرى كَالعِيرِ أَو عَرَما

١٥٠. وَما عَدَدتُ عَشيراً مِن مَناقِبِنا
وَمَن يَعُدُّ ثرَى يَبرِينَ مُرتَكِما
