1. I seek refuge for you from misfortunes befalling you
And from calamities overwhelming you

2. O noble scion you remain in the shade of bounty
Glory is yours again and wellbeing a third time

3. You have lived well with humble sustenance and honor
To which sam, ham, and jafith submit

4. Fate continues to flow obedient
To your command until the Resurrecter resurrects mankind

5. The days call out your name, which
Gathers all glory, decisive in affairs, everlasting

6. By my life, your merit and steadfastness
Resemble your father Ali when calamities appear

7. And I swear her sublime traits did not die
You are her heir, O son of the elect

8. For you is bounty which brings richness
While others writhe in distress, pleading

9. You were chaste and avoided harm without weakness
Though rogues had filled all the lands

10. A prophetic youth whose nature lofty caprice cannot tempt
When fortunes two and three are provoked

11. When wine vents its ill, the miserly man
Spreads his bounty in wealth extravagantly

12. If the nights' hands toy with a master
His hands in turn toy with those nights

13. They flowed and the lofty people flowed so he came
Impetuously while their dog panted

14. So say to his rival, curtail your insolence
Since when did grey-haired knaves befriend noble youth

15. When will the crooked lame man's son race
Be quick for chatterers prompt it

16. If an eloquent man rivaled him
He would be crushed and all arguments against him demolished

17. Ka'b and Hatim acknowledge his merit in generosity
And Qais and Harith in forbearance and valor

18. When he barks one day at a fortress he is
Like one atop the highest mountain barking

19. For him is vast glorious bounty by which
Feet of hopes and riders of gifts pace

20. His generosity invites those who desire
His sublime morals, gentleness, and habitual kindness

21. If seekers of needs call on him
Neither voice blocked nor giving ceased

22. He is rain but its dripping and sprinkling
Are enough for his close friends and neighbors

23. Noble of praise, from him no honor refused
Nor piercing satire inflicted

24. High-minded, when you seek him you seek
A generous man who does not refuse requests

25. May God reward the crown of faith with good, for
By him violence is repelled and wars prevented

26. Sacrifice myself for Abu Zaid, they are men whose
Hearts are blocked from good and ropes rotting

27. They have foul tongues and wicked hands
Noisy clubs and wealth filthy

28. While branches of good roots are flourishing
And evil roots do not grow

29. A youth whose neighbor is not rivaled by others
Can the brave of a people equal the cowardly?

30. A youth whose morals and character
Are always praised day after day

31. So say to him who swore falsely, "You have seen
For him a second expiation, for you have sinned"

32. May your feast be joyous for you are sweeter in looks
And better than it if it changes

33. And I have lived praiseworthy a thousand renewed feasts
At which you make men pure, O noble one

34. I composed it strangely for you, O son of the Prophet
Informing that its composer has become absent

35. With it I gathered the magic of speech which was hidden
And none breathed it before me, who breathes it now
