1. Your lover, O kindred spirit, hopes
For your coming for companionship and joy

2. And insists that he longs for you
Though lines are too narrow to contain it

3. And he hopes that on this day you will come
And delight in sitting and passing by

4. So if today you have already gotten permission
From the Master, son of the Minister

5. Then the best righteousness is to make it soon, or else
Get permission and hasten to come

6. And do not leave your lover waiting
For he cannot endure the great distance

7. And tell the virtuous Master Ali
And his companion, the luminous shooting star

8. Your lover has invited you both
To his house, come early in the morning

9. And I hope to get a response from you
To what my conscience desires

10. And I thank the grace of our Master upon me
And find pleasure in visiting and traveling

11. And I ask for the kindness of you both
To visit the house of this poor servant

12. For if you have graced me by coming
You will have attained tremendous rewards

13. But if circumstances prevent you
Due to excuses or urgent matter

14. Then another day, not this day, but
With a promise that will gladden hearts

15. And do not be wearied, O kindred spirit, by me
For a brother in love is not by compulsion

16. And love surely covers every fault
Especially when it comes from one prone to displeasure

17. And God is most forgiving
And you, as you see, are a forgiving servant

18. And bless yourself with companionship of one sublime
To the highest, unmatched in peers

19. Abdullah Pasha, vigilant servant
Of precious lineage, son of El-Kafouri

20. Of glorious origin, master over masters
Noble natured, and famous lineage

21. A vizier in his prosperity, a support
He told of the noon sun in its rising

22. The ministry adorned itself with his loftiness
With a necklace it protected from all falsehood

23. He established justice in Egypt and revived
Its features through it after decay

24. And managed the kingdom for an age so all the frontiers
Were strengthened by his firm resolve

25. He inherited eminence by birthright and merit
An emir from an emir from an emir

26. And he judges in the land without injustice
For which judgment would be blamed or tyranny

27. All the virtues have gathered in him until,
By your father’s life, he has surpassed many

28. His courage is that of one resigned
And his ambition that of one who seeks protection

29. Tahmasp or Tamati
So how many a slain hero or captive?

30. And when swords clash
There is no helper for his opponents

31. And if his fierce lions attack a land
The rebels hastily flee to their graves

32. And if he meets a learned man he finds
Seas of pearls and priceless gems

33. And if I bargain with him in poetry
Then speak of Ibn Abi Rabia or Jarir

34. And if you hear his recitation you will find him
Relating David singing psalms

35. And if you look upon his features you will see them
Like the shining full moon

36. Wondrous in every wonder, he has meanings
Whose eloquence nearly equals Az-Zamakhshari

37. And compared to the rhetoric of Ibn Hani
What value do Literary Sessions have before him?

38. Blessed is He who has given him authority over us
And granted him the keys to all affairs

39. And singled out his origins with most honor
And perfect nature and completed bounty

40. The comparison of what I mentioned to his eminence
And perfect overflowing bounty

41. Is as a drop one day attributed
To a great ocean or seas

42. And this is what I have heard in brief
Though you have come in recent times

43. It is enough that he is an obedient servant
To the Law of his Prophet Taha the Herald

44. Upon him Allah showered blessings without cease
As tongues of birds on branches poured

45. So take it, daughter of a day, though it is
Brief words not devoid of inadequacies

46. And a clear excuse for me is that before the virtuous
I am of little talent and humble means

47. And to praise his eminence none can enumerate
Save the Lord Almighty

48. Perfection upon perfection upon perfection
And light above light above light

49. And the ratio of what I mentioned to his loftiness
And perfect overflowing bounty

50. Is as a single droplet
Compared to the ocean's immensity

51. And this is what I heard in summary
Though you've come in recent times

52. Suffice that he is a compliant servant
To the Law of his Prophet, Taha the Herald

53. Blessings of God upon him without cease
As tongues of birds on branches poured

54. So take these words, born in a day, though they're
Brief, and not without insufficiencies,

55. And know my clear excuse is that before the virtuous
I'm of little talent and humble means

56. To praise his eminence none can enumerate
Save the Lord Almighty.
