الله أعطاك من أعدائك الظفرا

1. God gave you victory over your enemies
Leaving them neither fang nor claw

١. اللهُ أعطاكَ من أعدائكَ الظَفَرا
فلم تُبَقِّ لهُمْ ناباً ولا ظِفْرا

2. You overwhelmed them with favors until when
Their necks were too weak to bear them, you overwhelmed them with severing

٢. قلّدْتَهُم منَناً حتى إذا عجِزَتْ
عنها رقابُهُمُ قلدْتَهُم بَتْرا

3. They came to you under cover of darkness but when dawn broke
The white fingers showed they were not to be praised for their night visit

٣. سَرَوا إليكَ فلما أصبحوا حكمَتْ
بيضُ الظُبى أنهم لا يحمَدون سُرى

4. They came in ranks of battering rams but you took revenge and
Your generosity would not have diminished had they come as guests

٤. جاءوا صفوفَ قِراعٍ فانتقمْتَ وما
أبرَّ جودَك لو جاءوا ضيوفَ قِرى

5. You made them fragments when they refused
To ask with the tongue of obedience for mercy

٥. جعلتَهُم جُزُراً حينَ أبَوْا
أن يطلبوا بلسانِ الطاعةِ الجُزُرا

6. Whoever left no nook unsearched
Tell him he will encounter a male serpent

٦. من لم يدع كوّةً حتى يفتّشَها
فقُلْ له ستُلاقي الحيّةَ الذَكَرا

7. Abu Harb strives in an impenetrable formation
Even if the father of a thousand spears charged he would be overwhelmed

٧. يسعى أبو حربةٍ في رُتبةٍ منِعَتْ
فلو أبو ألفِ رمحٍ رامَها قُهِرا

8. And regards his hopes as trivial
Until he tries for the fertile horizon when he is infertile

٨. وتستخفُّ أمانيهِ منيّتَهُ
حتى يرومَ ثريّا الأفْقِ وهْو ثَرى

9. Until Abu Al-Fayyad confronted him with two knives
Like a young camel that had touched no stump at its extremities

٩. حتى انتحاهُ أبو الفياضِ منصَلتاً
كالعَضْبِ ما مسّ من أطرافِه بُتِرا

10. He did not cease to roar like a stallion in musth
Until you spilled his blood copiously with your two swords

١٠. ما زالَ يهدُرُ مثل الفحْلِ من نظرٍ
حتى أرقتَ بكِتْبَتيْهِ دماً هُدِرا

11. Damn him, may he be miserable, he obtained the pigeons but
Swiftly he came to collect them

١١. تبّاً له عاوياً نال الحِمامَ به
فجاءه عجِلاً للحينِ مُبْتَدِرا

12. He picked and when he saw the conquest at its limit
He turned and offered you his head seeking pardon

١٢. جَنى فلما أراهُ الفتحُ غايتَهُ
ولّى وأهدى إليكَ الراسَ معتذِرا

13. So may the conquest refresh you, its sides
Almost picking flowers from its midst

١٣. فليَهْنِكَ الفتحُ مُخْضرّاً جوانبُه
تكادُ تقطِفُ من أثنائِه الزَهَرا

14. You were safe when you held fast to Islam
While he failed when he came as a Christian victor

١٤. سلمتَ إذ سرتَ بالإسلامِ معتَصِماً
وخابَ إذ بالنّصارى جاءَ مُنتصِرا

15. Verily he who denies the Lord's bounty
And claims he is more deserving is like an infidel

١٥. إن الذي يكْفُرُ المولى صنيعتَهُ
ويدّعي أنّه أولى كمَنْ كفَرا
