1. What grace in love for the enamoured!
Reproach those love-lorn gently!

2. Every besotted lover is excused,
Preoccupied with his beloved and yearnings.

3. You fault-finders of love, enough!
Blame not one made tearful and distressed by passion!

4. He lives shrouded in woe, grief and longing,
Torment, burning pangs and cravings,

5. With copious tears flowing,
Captivated by a gleaming smile.

6. God exacted from the smooth-cheeked beloveds
Retribution on behalf of passionate lovers.

7. O gazelle with lips like pearls, a slender waist,
The full moon rising radiantly!

8. Torment not with estrangement a hapless ardent lover,
For estrangement is bitter to taste.

9. O my sweetheart who disowns me, it is not meet
To blame the enamoured captive.

10. What patience can the impassioned love-lorn have
Possessed by desire, madness and confusion?

11. I roamed in the dark night that clothed the earth,
Though not in character, seeking my prize earnestly

12. And firmly intent on attaining the mother lode.
I journeyed until dawn rose for beholders in its radiance.

13. The rise of the Imam we hope for told
He who enjoys his support is free of all bonds.

14. I praise the most eminent Ahmad Abu Taher
Whose ocean of generosity overflows unfettered.

15. A lover of dew lifelong, a passionate youth,
Whoever visits him is safe from humiliation.

16. In his palm lies a lightning bolt of generosity,
That floods the horizons when the rain holds back.

17. You would think him, when enraged, thunder and lightning
With flashes of promise and truthful portents.

18. His palms dispense generosity and grace,
Protecting all necks from severance.

19. His excellence assembled and dispersed
Has never ceased to come together and separate.

20. When he extends his palm he attains the utmost
Reach of one seated at the highest porch.

21. When he competes with steeds in generosity
He is like lightning flashing in its radiance.

22. When he is serious in giving it is as if
An ocean, pouring down without respite.

23. To his merit throng riders of high-bred steeds,
And caravans journey after caravans.

24. O Imam of mankind, the prayer of a lover
Who kept faithful to his pact:

25. The month of Sha’ban has come, so congratulate
The month of Sha’ban in lasting bliss!

26. May you remain an asylum for mankind
And the path to fates and livelihoods.
