1. When the lamp of the sky grew bright
And the morning's gown was about to be drawn back,
١. فلما استنارَ سِراجُ السّما
وكاد رداءُ الصِّبا يُسحَبُ
2. And the moon of darkness resembled a rain pool
With algae unveiled from its water
٢. وأشبهَ بدرُ الدُجى مَنْهلاً
تكشّفَ عن مائه الطُحْلُبُ
