1. I confide in you my state,
And care not what befalls me.

2. I have but faith and hope,
Naught else but my ambitions.

3. How can my soul rejoice,
Or how can I live in comfort,

4. When I've complained of my times
To you, O Lord of Greatness.

5. If you would show me favour,
Generosity is the mark of nobility.

6. But if you refuse, surely
Impossibility is clear.

7. For now I go on,
With tattered robe.

8. So hurry to me a servant,
Blessed in the moment.

9. I will not ward him off,
With talk or words.

10. So favour me, by my poetry,
Or service, or request.

11. O keeper of faith, O you
Who wears the cloak of glory,

12. By God, make haste for me,
And spare me from perfection.
