1. The beloved appeared, so patience and composure vanished,
And ignited a burning fire in my body that consumed my liver.

2. How can I find solace from loved ones, when they bid farewell,
And my heart is cleft by anguish?

3. Praise be to God for a young, perfect maiden,
Who gathered beauty beyond measure.

4. With her eyelashes she subdues lions in submission,
No wonder she can make lions submit!

5. Gold adorns her cheeks, basil her mouth,
Coquetry in her eyes, honey on her saliva.

6. Her waist is delicate, her hips are plump,
And people of old bear witness,

7. That you have gathered all graces like a flock,
And kindled a blazing fire in my heart.

8. If they blame me for loving you, they have indeed,
Strayed from truth and denied guidance.

9. If only they saw you, by God’s truth, appearing
Like the full moon above a smooth palm tree, they would prostrate!

10. When she strolled gently, I cried in agony,
“Is there anyone in this world who can save me from her love?”

11. “For in my heart there is a fire of longing no liver can withstand.”
O defender, respected imam, the one we rely on after God,

12. You who nothing in creation matches in character and manners,
You are an ocean to one who seeks you,

13. A full moon, while others are wolves.
By God, if all mankind together,

14. Strove to find your equal this long life, they would fail!
Honor this insightful, judicious man of Ariha,

15. On whom virtues’ banners gather.
He narrates the words of the Chosen Prophet authentically,

16. His transmissions are sound, proven by the chain.
It is established with me and all people,

17. That in the Islamic sciences he has no equal.
He cares for us as a kind father cares for his son,

18. Fulfilling that which he promises.
We care not if he draws near or distances,

19. For all people to call him from afar.
O you whose great deeds none can deny,

20. Save those who deny God’s grace!
Good tidings! The silent month has arrived,

21. And the Lord of the Throne has protected you from harm.
A victory, and you are her sole pillar.

22. Live in eternal, everlasting bliss,
A bounty without limit or number.

23. No clouds gathered, no turtledoves cooed,
No planets appeared to guide the wings of night,

24. Except that you remain in bliss without end,
Living forever, no hand rising above you.
