1. O Imam, who is better than any imam,
And generous, surpassing all the generous,

2. I have a status in schools of knowledge,
Restore my status, contending with the clouds,

3. I have recited the Quran by heart, but did not memorize
Beyond Surat Al-An'am,

4. And I sought knowledge in it, as
One who revives the law of Islam,

5. And problematic issues came to me, which
Are, by my life, too subtle for my comprehension,

6. They deprived me of comfort from paper and time,
I spent the ritual dressings and pilgrimage,

7. And my affliction with poverty is not lawful,
And remedying my situation is not forbidden,

8. And I see your well-built house,
Has become like the house of peace,

9. So listen to me, for I do not utter
Lies in what I say,

10. The arrangement of sorrows in it is my glory,
And the scattering of gifts in it is my arrangement,

11. My purpose is that you now present your servant
As I desire for completion,

12. For the one who lacked the four
Months, and you protected from the tyranny of time,

13. So my clothes tore like the limbs
Of enemies, without any regard for food,

14. This is rambling poetry I composed for you, and I
Am truthful in my composition,

15. And by my life, the eloquent becomes
Pitiable when deprived of food
