Whetted keen by loss and wish

For poetry's edge, like the garden's rose.

Swaying amidst myrtle and rose

Only by shaking the camel's hump.

5. What overflowed from clouds of dew and rain
And the watchful star of its fortune

6. Thunders and lightnings praise it
A downpour the shower cannot match

7. For all good is from Him
Ink that dispelled darkness, lightning strike.

8. Woe, woe to him it doesn't guide
A full moon raised in glory's sky

9. Of lineage that shows in its counting
A pearl well-strung by glory's hand

10. Grace like a willow wand, nay, more slight
Kisra boasts it from the cradle on

11. Passing from father and grandfather
To servant and servant's son

12. Generosity loosed tongue's praise
Seeking from it today tomorrow's debt

13. While it lavishes merit, spurning return.
