1. My poetry, like your glory, whoever scorns it is remiss,
And the oceans of my thoughts, like your generosity, teem.

2. When your attributes lent it some of them,
It was dimmed by your precious, most refined essence.

3. And if you return one day to reality,
Then who possesses that essence but you?

4. Are you not but a painting whose branches
Are a barren thing, while this bears fruit?

5. Pride to your generous soul, for it
The little gained its gifts, and the ample.

6. Like rain above land, soft,
And amidst the sea, a gleaming pearl.

7. No faith is lost if you guard its law,
Nay, nor has time betrayed it.

8. I complain to you of my companion's frigidity,
Whom you made contrary to what is remembered.

9. If he returns from his stones, restore to him
Moses, and you'll see his rivers gush forth.

10. Or if he's made of some iron, be for him
David, ordered by your hands and commanded.

11. I am on a journey, and if I travel,
My heart still longs for you and does not lag.

12. I hope for your bestowal, no farewell to one who forsakes,
For he attained success in what he desires.

13. And peace, the likes of you, when you bestow your favors
Are a full moon obscured, and I am thankful.
