1. Abu al-Wafa ibn Abi Sa'd was wed
With good fortune and happiness ahead

2. A full moon that illuminates the gloom
With unmatched splendor and éclat

3. She holds a noble status indeed
A paragon of virtue and rectitude

4. I clothed him in praise, for who else
Could I praise so proudly?

5. I compose for him still
Refined eulogies like a necklace

6. The family of Moses worshipped their Lord
And devoted themselves fully

7. None of His servants worshipped the calf
In times gone by, no, never

8. Nor those who took fire as their lord
As told of India

9. But they are People of the Book
Whose affairs the Judge has settled

10. Between the free and the bound
The Torah came to guide

11. Manna and quails they were given
As they chose the path of reason

12. O you whose nobility I extol
My ode is meant for you

13. Rejoice in a wedding whose day
Is a feast for the valley's people

14. Good fortune has come to you
Like a bracelet clasping your wrist

15. The sweetest is by you
Made firm by the Artisan's hand

16. Sweeter than safety but
More fragrant than musk

17. Reward the poet, do not
Deny or hesitate

18. Give me the prize at once
For I am in dire need

19. May you remain in glory and bounty
As long as birds sing on the branch
