With tears welling up in the eyes or weeping

2. You say that if you were convinced of my disobedience
I offered you advice even if it was of no use

3. Have you not seen that time has changed against me
You have seen from me neither joy nor sorrow

4. If I perish and the days of time are destructive
I was not helpless, dejected, or pious

5. And if I remain, I am one who plunges into battles
I make the enemy drink poison and deadly mixtures

6. No rising was ever blocked, though the path was narrow
Except I found beyond the narrowness a rising

7. And I have never attacked a foe suddenly
Except I intended with the foe who fled from me a prey

8. How many enemies, whose enmity I bear
Conceal their hatred, not seeing in me covetousness

9. I have borne from him such wayward, rash ones
