1. Send word to her through a messenger,
Though of what avail a messenger to thee!

2. Thou dup'st and threaten'st us by slow degrees,
Like habits of the wolf toward the gazelle.

3. Yet do no such! Thy brother's made of steel,
Full skilled in war's capricious stratagems.
