1. John the Baptist gained perfection
When visited by the Lord, a babe with his mother

2. So arise, O John, secluded, do not sleep
And seek a God who came with his mother

3. Blessed is he who pleased the Lord
Between two covenants, his name prevailed

4. The prophets stopped prophecy of the Son of God
Not lagging behind him, complete with his steps

5. Far it is that the prophets surpass his height
Vain or transcend his ascendancy in judgment

6. He gained heaven and its kingdom before
Seeing in existence the earth or in his knowledge

7. And he yielded the Holy Spirit when he yielded him
A womb that conceived him, bundled in its womb

8. Adorned with spiritual gifts
That were complete though creatures were still being shaped

9. Armored with the weapon of spirit before
Limbs armored themselves with their perfection

10. I mean his nature for the Creator of his nature
Naturally coming out most victorious

11. He preceded Christ himself enthroned
In spirit and body while still inside his mother
