1. O Allah, You are the Hearer, the Seer
Of lovers, and You are triumph and refuge

2. I fell in love with You though I’m insignificant
How excellent is the Beloved adorned with insignificance

3. I abandoned the quarters of my parents for You
And no trace pleased me but Yours

4. Let our love journey on with a travelling heart
As if it is a sphere and You are its moon

5. Your image is remembrance and the heart is its center
And love is its orbit, its rays are thought

6. It's as if when my eyes picture You, You are a moon
In its horizon, images bow to it

7. I recite verses of love to my heart, so when
Inspiration is grasped, it says they are chapters

8. I spend my life narrating stories of You
While life passes, and no story of You ceases

9. How You veiled Yourself from me, disturbing my eye
A veil from You, though You don't conceal Yourself

10. How You tore a veil that was from me
Replaced with veils without deficiency

11. Your distance from me was destined
As my nearness to You has no limit

12. My love, longing, passion in loving You
Is a secret, bliss, and fire holding sparks

13. If You abandon me, in Your union I hope
Like the sun hoped for when night's wing is folded

14. My love for You is like the moon, beautiful is its rising
And my tears are like clouds, named rain

15. My eyes and Yours are like opposites attracted
Mine are blind, yours adorned with maidens

16. So mine stumble with ineptitude
While Yours are swords leaving no trace

17. In the arena of love, the slanderers don't know it
Cursed if they excuse, and cursed if they betray

18. I intend the ways of love in alarm
Does alarm deter those who love them?

19. So I humble my heart with sighs hoping
To hide, though can news be hidden from them?

20. When love mingled with the infatuated heart
Wanting separation, love united it with vigil

21. Away with a barren heart empty of its juice
Does an unfruitful branch please You?

22. Take their love, O aspirated letter, committed
In union and separation, it is never devoid even if they abandon

23. It's as if I'm the verb and the Beloved is its doer
Connected, though hidden in it

24. The sweetest passion if famous
O gentle ones, leave me to make it famous!

25. I stayed up as night enfolds me and I unfold it
In lament and love, so I fold it and it unfolds

26. Take my tears which I spend for You
And give patience to the lover, his refuge is ardour

27. You dwelled in me like the spirit dwells in my body
As if I'm a shell and You are the pearls

28. So You are the soul and the body united
By soul and body, an entity having worth

29. Love triangular, so its nature disagreed
Though essence is one, minds wandered in it

30. For them I yearn, and for them my blood is violated
No danger deters one who loves something

31. O You who deprived my eyes of light by loving them
Enlighten my heart when sight betrays me

32. Death is more harmonious for me than Your abandonment
So if I live without You, living is a burden

33. Be alive in me, and I am You
Like the sun with no defect in its halo

34. I turn without ceasing looking
For a glimpse of You until sight is guided

35. It's as if Your face is a magnet to our souls
So wherever You turn, images turn towards it

36. My heart complains to the clouds of the fire of Your love
Wondrous, a paradise of light containing hell

37. My heart melts by a fire You ignite
While the eye beholds a beauty monopolized in You

38. I'm intoxicated by You, even if by Your right
I left all of existence intoxicated by You

39. I've become by the wine of passion which I took
Intellects from it, but no intellect remains in us

40. I remain elated and wounded by it
Prostrated and turned away, yet still having fervor

41. I lost my life in loving You, so make me prosper
O profit of a people who profited though losing

42. They bow down out of humility when I mention You
As if the sword of remembrance struck them

43. It's as if my heart is land torn by passion
As if Your love upon it is pouring rain

44. I intend to see You but tears prevent me
As tears and sight contend within me

45. My humiliation, weakness and imperfection meets
Honor, tyranny, perfection in You and dignity

46. Praise and eulogy from my insignificance to You
As fear and caution are hardships from You to me

47. I remained miserable for You until I attained what
News had promised, foretelling to me

48. The veil was lifted from me, patched
By the excuses of the excusers, now torn

49. After blame had oppressed me, distress and gloom
What do you know of gloom?

50. Since the lights of Your rising have glanced
Sun and moon greeting within it

51. Distracting me from the beauty of our world
Saying, "This is what creation was for."

52. So have your fill of a beauty without satiety
And delight in a bliss without gloom

53. Turn your face away from a beauty enjoyed by
those who change, and know the truth is considered

54. Be joyous in the beauty of your True Lord
That God those who reject Him have refused

55. He is the Beloved whose love is valued
That He bought with pouring the blood of humans

56. Among them a martyr, among them an ascetic of justice
Righteousness, among them the Messenger of good triumphant

57. As the disbelief of disbelievers does not tempt you from Him
It's as if they are cattle, their abode is Hell

58. While the truth is with the party of His faithful believers
Reality is served by forms and images

59. As if they are pearls, their trait is pearls
As if they are caves, their trait brings no harm

60. A generous people, for them in the world is a station
In Heaven for them is a Kingship of value

61. If they believe, they are safe, and if given victory, are victorious
If guided, are guided, and if aided, are aided

62. Impossible, impossible! For faith is miraculous
And every soul has its own perspective
