1. If the heavens could speak or have a mouth
They would chant praising you, O Mary

2. You whom God approached with intimacy
In you and through you His glory is magnified

3. And with the Holy Spirit He took His body from you
Sanctified, and in His holiness He took form

4. Mother of God through Him you truly became
Whoever doubts blasphemes, and blasphemy leads to regret

5. So the Son takes from His Father and Mother
A secret and nature in which He is molded

6. Christ took from His Father God what
His Father has of divinity as He rules

7. And He has from the virginity of His Mother
His incarnate, embodied humanity

8. Thus we see Him like His Father, Lord, All Powerful
He humbles people, and His throne cannot be destroyed

9. And we see Him bearing what His Mother Mary has
Suffering in His body and through it feeling pain

10. Through His two wills He disposed the world
Then He saved Adam through His two natures

11. So when we look at Jesus and His Mother
We see in Her a stamp since He is sealed

12. Intellect and supreme beauty
This by that and that in Him is depicted

13. So by what measure can I compare Her greatness
Until God the Greatest likens Her?

14. If I said “sun” eclipses blemish it
While your splendor grows greater each day

15. Or if I said “moon” occultations defame it
While your radiance ignites more each day

16. Or if I said “star” then all planets
Prostrate before you in veneration

17. Or if I said “cherubim” of our God’s throne
Their loftiness compared to your loftiness is belittled

18. Or if I said “seraphim” of the heavenly hosts
Without your Son they wouldn’t have risen or been magnified

19. Or if I said Gabriel among His angels
We see him serving you with the message

20. Or if I said Michael on his day of fighting
Iblis, but who is higher than you?

21. Or if I said all the angelic hosts
But their brilliance compared to your brilliance is darkened

22. We see no likeness equaling Her beauty
Except Her Son, that Greatest God

23. No wonder the Son resembles the Mother
The most resembling son resembles his mother, causing no injustice

24. She encountered for them a Mother, and He encountered for Her a Son
As the logic of the effect points to its cause, the mouth

25. When with His grace He clothed Her, so He clothed Himself
From Her with a perfect body magnified

26. She by nature is truly His Mother, and He
By His grace is her Benefactor Father

27. So whenever she calls Him “my Son”
Likewise He calls Her in reverse, understood

28. In humility resembling as She
Resembled Him through grace, if you know

29. And they feigned being similar, dumbfounding
That accursed Nestorius, the damned criminal

30. The innovators’ views were ripped apart
And ruin with their destruction is chanted

31. Honor is not safe from harm
Until blood is spilled on its flank

32. God dwelt in Her throne, as though
On His lofty throne, ruling and sovereign

33. She laid down for Him from Her heart and soul
Satin and linens as bedding

34. She made both Her sides pillows beneath Him
So He wouldn’t sleep on a painful pillow

35. And Her tenderness was more tender than the tenderness
Of Her ribs, for Him like a bed murmuring

36. Until when she gave birth to Him a suckling infant
With her milk, He the Eternal Benefactor

37. She would kiss Him and He would cling to Her bosom
Clinging with the clinginess of what is most clinging

38. So if you observed with the apex of your mind Her voice
The melody of Her gentle murmur would inspire you to weep

39. She surrendered Her soul and heart to Him
As a possession for Him, and with His possession to feel bliss

40. So when you see the Son calling His Mother
How strangely ignorant you are if you do not learn

41. And when you see God dwelling in Her
How strangely blasphemous you are if you do not grieve

42. And when you see the deaf hearing Her praise
How strangely inept your poetry if it does not sing

43. And when you see praising Her is obligatory
How strangely heartless you are if you do not speak

44. Happy are you, O Crown of all creation
Without you, man cannot steer

45. Without you the glorious intercessor falls short
Without you the sinner is shackled and muted

46. I have no knowledge what eulogy I should compose for you
And with your logical eulogy I am rendered speechless

47. This I say, and in it I am no liar
And Hellfire is the reward of liars for what they say

48. In you God repeated a second time
What He had created, and the proof is they themselves

49. Without you the world would have perished from its evil
But by your grace it is truly indestructible

50. God the Father regretted when He created the world
But for your sake the compensation cannot be regretted

51. Thus you became for creation a haven
They gaze toward you, and praise is the ladder

52. I came to you humble and submitting
Ever since Gabriel came to you and surrendered
