1. Purity of soul is of no use or benefit
If the body of the soul is prevented by sin

2. When the dense body straightens its constitution
To the chastity of a soul that was obedient to God

3. It returns as it was before the fall
When Adam was in Paradise grazing

4. For our composition is of soul and body
And it is no wonder that the body follows the soul

5. So if you are spiritual then you are godly
And if you are corporeal then you are wicked

6. Purity of a body that exceeded the soul in ascent
Is the highest and most noble of angels

7. So how far between one whose nature is inclined to purity
And one who is compelled, bent by temperament

8. I say without fear of contradiction
Supported by the chaste fruit of purity

9. That purity in the sense of its perfection
Is equivalent to a god shining with purity

10. For Adam was tempted by his godliness
And he was made godly when one day he lusted

11. So whoever increases in purity increases in resemblance to his Lord
Diminishing and growing, originator and squanderer

12. So do not weary yourself, O you who aspires to chastity
If God does not help you, do not resist

13. For purity is only a gift of His generosity
Which He bestows for a time, stingily and freely

14. And the proof of Him, Blessed is He, is that
He refused to obligate it when He legislated

15. I see my body tempting me with the thorn of desire
And Satan striking me with a painful strike

16. You see me wounded and scorched together
My wound and my scorching I want removed and lifted

17. For I am a disgraced and wretched human
So who can rescue me from a killing body and intercede?

18. I call out, and I have called upon the One who does not answer me
Except You, help me O Lord, and the heart is terrified

19. For if You will my purification, You are capable
To purify me while the adversary trembles before You

20. With Mary, the model of chastity, Your mother
Who has become my intercessor with You
