1. Stop lamenting a soul amazed at its death
Why be amazed when decay is inherent?

2. Do not transgress, but be amazed at its amazement
For you will see hypocrisy in its attributes

3. It pleases people with its amazement, yet
In doing so, it bows towards its idols

4. And claims, in word, faith in God
While disbelief resides in its deeds and attributes

5. It shows devotion in piety, yet destroys it
In its amazement, thus loving its virtues

6. No downfall in affliction surprised it
Except pride being among its defects

7. No arrogant monk in his nature
Except his obedience in a state of death

8. The branch knows its origin from its root
And trees are known by their fruits

9. Indeed, the cure for the arrogant is their downfall
Through sins they fear the consequences

10. Whoever dislikes advice, dislikes himself
The soul is not pleased by its habits

11. Except one who has tasted the joy of its benefit
Through humility, while the arrogant have not attained it

12. The soul grows poor when people become self-sufficient
Through arrogance, and dies in its slips

13. A person shows disbelief when he sees an arrogant one
Since arrogance is disbelief in its states

14. Through arrogance, one becomes a devil
With Iblis himself among its tools

15. Turning away from the light of every virtue
As if it is a bat in its lurking places

16. And when the night of vice grows dark
Its pupils stare and say: "Bring it to me"

17. So let it prepare for the fire of deserved justice
A day comes when the soul is distressed by its gasps

18. A day it feels the madness in its hell
And the water of the eye melts from its tears

19. The gardens of bliss will again become peaceful
Alas, never again will it attain them, alas

20. My Lord, I loved You as long as I lived, so save me
While my eye is grateful for the arrows of its preparation

21. By the intercession of the Virgin who was purified
By her attributes and sanctified in her essence

22. A moon surrounded by the angels' halo
How beautiful are moons in their halos

23. She is the third of two moons, except
She resides above the heavens in her verses

24. She has pitched her canopy of glory near her Son
The angels spread their banners above them

25. For victory is in her banners, success is in
Her goals, and profit is in her signs

26. Maryam is nothing but salvation from enemies
Blessed is he who has tasted the flavor of her salvation

27. For his life without her is like his death
And his death is like his life through her life
