1. He who strayed from revealing flaws has strayed
Since he strayed from clarifying what makes one lose composure

2. From a sinful food Adam's grandfather went astray
But he repented from what he had eaten

3. And due to him, the trustee remained for his successor
In life and resurrection, for he will be judged for what he did

4. We are led to death unwillingly, just as
A lamb is led to slaughter and skinning

5. For death is our destination, and its source is ruin
Oh what a state whose destination was demise

6. It has no pure spring in its source, nor
Does its reality become sweet, to be weighed by hope

7. So it's as if that death sleeps away from us
When it wakes, it rules with the judgment of an impartial judge

8. We are between a truthful promise
And the warning of a decisive judgment, so glory to the Almighty

9. No good in a life procrastinated by illnesses
If it increases, then eighty lashes after it

10. The steed of life falters due to illnesses
We are not wronged in it, but

11. It is in our nature that we tend to this decline
And a nature stuck with death, inherent to decay

12. Slipped, and the flaws caught up with it, away from the truth
It devised an opinion, so when it liked it

13. It went astray, and poison was in that honey
From its Lord, until He cast it with paralysis

14. It concealed a secret from it, which deceived it
When it disclosed it, it saw the evil exchange

15. It shaded the ray of truth, if it declared
And was arrogant with the tail of doubt, when it lowered

16. O Concealer from us of the reality of His religion
Supposedly, that religion is connected to secrecy

17. If it is true, then clarify it for us
Or if it is a lie, what is this fraud?

18. You fear revealing the attributes of the praised
Yet the best praise is that which has the like

19. So reveal the good essence of the praised
Pridefully, and the ugliness of dishonor conceals in shyness

20. Leave a doctrine that came from you, supported
In which are myths that you used to rave about

21. Sand, astrolabe, that and rising star
Sorcery and observations of a star that declined

22. With the lying alchemy, likewise simiya
Falsehood that leads the mind to the valley of confusion

23. You made your questionable doctrine imitated
Among followers who went astray in saying and deed

24. If you equate, O you, your religion with a joke
What is the merit between truth and faulty opinion?

25. If you say the sword is more effective than a stick
Did the merit of the sword increase with the soft branch?

26. No merit in the thoroughbred horse when it appears
Swifter in running than the camel

27. And you claimed that truth is ambiguous to you
In words, for your secret has been obtained in it

28. If the religion of truth is with you, then light it
Do not claim fear of a connected truth

29. Do not blame whoever came ignorant of its essence
When it was between how and perhaps

30. What is the fault of its critic? And your religion is ambiguous
How can the mind and education of the fool be blamed?

31. Far it is for the Lord of the command to ruin one
Who stood against the command if one was heedless

32. You constructed ambiguously in the secret of the blind
Some views in which there was transmission of nullification

33. Of the sum of numbers and embodied spirit
Patience, fires, progeny with term

34. You made obscure, O you, a salvation you
In its ambiguity, guide like one who jested in it

35. You made it ambiguous in poetry of ambiguous words
In pronunciation, meaning and in defective meter

36. Melodic modes, equalization of clauses and their punctuation
Empowering, spoiling rhymes or defects

37. And I have denoted in you nicknames in which
You made ambiguous what you denoted, like the lowly people

38. One time you say Al-Khidr is incarnated in you
Another time you say you are Al-Hāwī Al-Jameel

39. One time that you are Al-Wāsil, rather Al-Fā'el
One time you say you are Al-Mawlā Al-Ajall

40. One time that you are the Lord of Honour, the Sender
Of messengers, from you are the signs of pre-eternity

41. What are signs, and who are your messengers?
If you are the truth, then show with deed

42. You confused us, O Abu Baraqaš, tell us
Who are you? But what are you? From where did the mind understand?

43. You concealed from us the news of your eye, fearing
This statement, so desist from this and depart

44. Your praised elixir is hidden from us
And the praised Dāniq is in the folds of fraud

45. Come out with it if it is true, quenching us
From the matter of defamation, or disbelief, or murder

46. Do not exchange the truth for lies
That you accept, indeed, the truth exposes one who exchanges

47. You proposed in the science of mathematics that it
Is better, and the best knowledge is that which is completed and displayed

48. Alas! The science of mathematics did not inform us
What is asceticism? What is chastity in one who detached?

49. What is disbelief in its types and attributes?
What are the ten senses in this position?

50. What is sin in the definition of each major one
Of it? And what is the limit of the minor one in lapses?

51. And clarify for us the condition of each virtue
And vice, if you are the champion in knowledge

52. What is the mind in perceiving its imaginings?
What is the visualized scene in the meaning of the example?

53. What is the weakness in man or what is his deficiency?
What is the cure for each when the deficiency contains?

54. What is arrogance, what is conceit, what is affirmation in
Its details, quantitatively and qualitatively, if it obtained?

55. What is devotion and restraint in its states
If it came between heat and laziness?

56. Discourse in the sciences of God, and reveal them to us
Indeed, kohl is not truth like surma

57. A Master called by creation its Lord
To the universe, for the universe was not created hastily

58. He is beyond before, after, and transcends
A boundary containing Him in a manner or example

59. In His essence, singular, persons to Him
Who have been threefold, unchanged from them in pre-eternity

60. A Father, a Son to Him, and a Spirit from them both
With love emanating, as the Greatest said

61. He created the angels of the sky in righteousness
And established them from Him as soldiers and successors

62. With fire created ex nihilo by the Power of the Able
It came while they have no body or muscle

63. No death makes them pass, nor strength for them
None counted them in number except the Vanquisher of kingdoms

64. Rather, only their place has been specified with limitation
That they be separated in definition from the source of reasons

65. They appear as persons we see them when
The Master sends them with a just command

66. When Iblīs became arrogant while he was free willed
His Master discarded him and evil is what he did

67. He did not hope for return after banishment or guidance
Oh woe to him from what he will encounter one day

68. Glorified is his Master, Excellent in deed
Who built the highest heavens' spheres

69. An earth He spread when He willed it
Above waters, with plain or mountain

70. He flowed in it seas, as He also
Flowed in it drinkable water, and it moderated

71. He ignited in it the two lunar phases except
He clothed them in two garbs of decrease and defect

72. Then He created man with a sound intellect
Whom He adorned with speech when he reasoned

73. Thought and understanding after that, and will
These are powers of a soul the body completed with

74. Before, He created a body, and after a moment
He flowed in it a soul, and in this is procreation

75. He specialized for him a Lord that revealed when He transcended
And honored for him a Master when He said "Be," and it was

76. He resided in Huwā (Eve), and saved Ādam
When he was tempted by the voice of the tree

77. This is the wonderful secret in His action
Far it is for one to know and one to hear to have perfect sincerity

78. I have not concealed it stingily or protectively
From one who wants knowledge in practical action

79. The praised elixir is hidden from us
And the praised Dāniq is in the folds of fraud

80. Come out with it if it is true, quenching us
