1. God was pleased for Joseph to have
A guardian to raise him as a child

2. He called him from the house of Israel chosen
From the family of David, before and after

3. He made him a cloak for the Mother of God distinguished
As her fiancé, in the sense of what He did

4. Because He willed to hide the secret of His incarnation
From the accursed, so blessed be Joseph's mind

5. Thus God adorned him with perfect works
He being devout, chaste, virtuous and just
