1. A thirsty gazelle in the winding valleys
Its thirst quenched by the pure spring

2. It rested by a hill laden with good things
While thunder roared and heavy rain poured

3. I stopped by it when I passed its meadow
Asking about my people though tears poured

4. And I promised it suns of beautiful maidens
Would make blood flow however mind imagined

5. Flowers like full moons shining bright
With beauty of twos under shooting stars

6. Among them a sleepy drunk beauty
Luscious, gentle and chaste

7. With a look that captivates minds
As if it’s magic though it isn’t magic

8. Lips like sweet jasmine its taste
Honey, no, less honey and wine

9. Its abode heals lovers’ hearts
And it’s their remedy against separation

10. Its phantom came to me after night’s rest
To my bed after long separation

11. Bringing to life a lover’s heart, a suffering captive
Whose patience was tested after her

12. We spent the night in bliss and pleasure
Fulfilling a promise safe from harm

13. I complain to her and she shows kindness
Till dawn ends our night behind veils

14. She rose to bid farewell, her tears
Betraying the feelings her lips held

15. I shed tears that freely flow like
Dew from the palm of Sultan Bin Saif, he is the sea

16. Imam of virtue, glorious chief
Master of all, obeyed by low and high

17. None can match his open hand, not even Hatem
Among horsemen there is no equal to Amr

18. Generous to all cities and lands
His name recalled for his generosity

19. Wise, deliberating before acting
Mighty affairs are mighty to him

20. Such is time, doing what will be done
Hardship surely ends and comfort comes

22. I still enjoy your bounty in hardship and luxury
Never has hardship touched me since knowing you

23. So stay glorious, empowered and eternal
With lasting glory no era changes
