1. Roses are three for men, their fruit
Gleams in brocade like the moon in gloom.
١. ثلاثٌ حِلّى للرجالِ فَهَاكِهَا
تلوح بسطر الطِّرْس كالبدر في الدُّجَى
2. Virtues adorn them and gracious mien,
Fame amongst people, and thirdly, wisdom.
٢. مكارمُ أخلاقٍ وبِشْرٌ يزينُهُ
مع الناس محمودٌ وثالثها الحجى
