1. Our masters, your calamity is great
And your patience with the glorious is tremendous

2. For you are mountains, firmly rooted
When wild winds blow, you do not budge

3. No gales can move you
Only a gentle breeze stirs you

4. You have resolve and courageous hearts
Adorned with noble character

5. So I say not “patience” to you
But say your reward is magnificent

6. You preceded in every virtue
Your ancient generosity attests it

7. You are the noblest of angels incarnate
Your child like your elder, forbearing

8. All is safe if you are unharmed
For through you the worlds are secure

9. You are suns in the highest orbit
Oh leaders, live long lives

10. And live long, O Hamid Al Ali
Our sultan’s wise son

11. In the first, you have honor and glory
In the last, you have success everlasting

12. Do not grieve what is past, and pray
To a God who is surely merciful to you

13. If the transient will not return
Why then the sorrow and worries?

14. Do not expect permanence from this world
Nothing in the world endures

15. Your consolation, son of Sultan bin Saif
Is He who brought loss though you remain

16. All who walk upon it will pass
No creature in it stays forever

17. All must perish one day
Only His face, the Almighty, remains

18. Be as your brother Saif Al Maali
Unperturbed, whom no insults disturb

19. Neither fortune makes him arrogant
Nor any worries hover around him

20. He is not horrified by burying nobles
Nor the lowly, though the forbearing perish

21. He is the fierce, mighty in power
When foes cower before his rule

22. For all people are your dependents
So guide some with kindness to straightness

23. Bestow on your dependents what you have
For your generosity revives customs

24. The world is no home of immortality
By my life, its expanse is but a tent

25. It is impossible to live happily in it
Its nature is to sleep, not to slumber

26. The world’s essence is ugly
Though its appearance to its viewer is fair

27. It is bitter saltwater
Poison to the drinker, though people crave it

28. If you roam it, take great care
And take from it as the wise have taken

29. Solace, acceptance, and fortitude
For patience rectifies calamities

30. Give special greetings from us
