1. O noble Arab king, defender of justice
You are the virtuous one, through whom justice prevails

2. None who hopes for your bounty is disappointed
Except the hopeless one with no vision

3. You are the generous foe, sweet-tongued
Your munificence puts beseechers to shame

4. As if you had sworn an oath to yourself
That no supplicant shall leave empty-handed

5. When the generous boast of their generosity
And compete in magnanimity, you are the most generous

6. When the brave falter in predicaments
Or hesitate one day, you are the boldest

7. O you who seek his bounty, do not ask
To receive from him, ask not, for asking is fruitless

8. Shall I fear the vicissitudes of time?
When tied to you by a cord of love, I'm connected

9. How your favors have adorned the necks of mankind
And conduits of blessings flow to them from you

10. As if you have decreed that you shall never turn away
A supplicant, thus no beseecher leaves you deprived

11. And if a man grows poor, not asking for your aid
You take it upon yourself to provide for him

12. No hopeful wishing for bounty makes a plea
Except you fulfill what the hopeful wishes for

13. No blamer has tasted the lightning of your palm
Except he was drowned in a pouring rain

14. Their hearts and kings willingly submit to you
Each standing reverently, hat-in-hand

15. Seeking from your endless bounty a generous flood
A sweet Euphrates that no asker can exhaust

16. Do not neglect a virtuous youth in Nizwa
Who though seated hopes, while this one stands

17. Live forever in kingdoms, enjoying eternal bliss
For none can match you among all people

18. Through you, life is graced, you are its joy
And its bounty, you set the wavering straight

19. Without you no one's life would be pleasant
Truly, no mind would savor a meal

20. What is time, what is the world, what are its pleasures?
For time is you, your light envelops all
