1. The book arrived, bringing me joy
With its arrival, when it arrived

2. As if its title were
A glistening pearl or cold ice

3. And as if its lines
Were silver necklaces or emerald

4. When it came to me, it delighted me
And lifted the gloom from my heart

5. Our master the guardian sent it to me
Al-Murtada, the rightly guided one

6. A gift from a master
If I were given what I wish

7. I would want it to last
For eternity or the longest time

8. O Salim son of Muhammad
Take what you see fit from whom you love

9. And overlook the faults of whoever
Jests with you

10. He is faithful to his word
So accept, for this is what I strive for

11. And enjoy a soft, gentle life
In a lofty, firmly rooted home

12. And be safe, I am cleared
Of any blame or defiance

13. Convey my greetings to whoever
You meet, your family and children

14. From me, greetings and peace
Upon you forever

15. Then prayers upon the Prophet
Muhammad, best of all people
