1. I was still immersed in joy and ecstasy
Living a life of pleasure and perfect bliss

2. Until the streaks of gray appeared in my hair
Severing the cords of my affection and ties

3. O you, if you would be just or fair
Stop the injustice of distress

4. If you deny my gray hair, it's from you it came
Or if you deny my body, your abandonment killed me

5. You turned away when the whiteness of parting appeared
From my ways, obeying the words of the blamer

6. You forgot a past covenant now gone
I fulfilled it and disobeyed those who blamed me for you

7. If you make excuses, the excuse is your nature
And your budding love is like a fleeting shadow

8. She spoke and the reproach did not spur her steed
Alas, one who is cut off does not hope for reunions

9. She turned away, tears flowing as if
Poured forth from the Judge, the Just Imam's abundant grace

10. O people of kingdoms, merits, and knowledge
The Excellent, Sultan bin Saif Al Fa'izel

11. The progeny of the good, the pure, foremost in bounty
And generosity, people of requests and means

12. They excelled people in ranks and positions
And praised natures, traits

13. And manners of unveiled beauty and clarity
And gifts spread and superior virtues

14. For you, O Ibn Saif, is power that if it collided
With a mountain, it would be in the morn like a flowing dune

15. And the brilliance of your radiant, graceful face
Outshining the full luminous moon

16. O you who ask about his generosity and munificence
Description falls short of it, it has no shore

17. If I say like the pouring plentiful rain I diminish him
Or say like the all-encompassing vast ocean I diminish him

18. And if I say in ferocity and courage
Like the roaring, valiant lion I diminish him

19. He is the first, he is the last in his generosity
Do not limit him to ends and beginnings

20. The brilliance of your justice has no denier
Like the bounty of your munificence has no coast

21. I hoped in you to fill my deficiencies
For you, the hopeful's endeavor is not wasted

22. And I composed meanings in verse for you
For you, the worker's reward is not lost

23. Of a people, nothing uglier to them
Than cutting off kin and rejecting the questioner

24. The suns of truth rose up from your horizons
By your justice the stars of falsehood vanished

25. All acknowledged, by your justice and bestowal
Of humankind, the scholar or the ignorant

26. So I will greatly thank your benevolence
For it comes to me swiftly when urgent

27. And may the Feast of Fast-Breaking be joyous for you are its feast
And may any other feast be joyous after it

28. Relax and feast and greet peace, blood, and what warbled
The crooning doves above the leaning branch

29. Or a longing one returned to his homelands
Or lightning flashed in pouring clouds
