1. O one whose cool saliva has enchanted,
A smooth, soft, tender, pure maiden,

2. Delicate, gentle, supple, graceful,
Coy, shy, white, radiant,

3. Bashful, plump, sleek, slender,
Willowy, tender, delicate, shapely,

4. Flirtatious, white child, fragrant,
Radiant, sweetly scented, beautiful, lovely,

5. Flirtatious, sleepy, pretty, coquettish,
Agile, nimble, playful, supple,

6. Curvaceous, bare, white, quivering,
Bewitching, pure in nature, radiant,

7. Infatuated, with a smiling dimple,
Beloved, with a supple nose, shapely,

8. Chaste, honorable, no baseness in her,
Speedy, tender, passionate, nymph-like,

9. Tremulous, rosy, not uncouth,
Her branch flexes, tender, pure, radiant,

10. Shy, gentle, untouched by blame,
Candles in beauty of form, rosy cheeks,

11. Self-willed, rosy, a guiding light, she captivated me
So I cannot live or drink water,

12. Intoxicated with light, aloof, her desire is miserly,
Stingy, shining, her beauty brings misery,

13. Chaste, I cried over her aloofness for a year,
She's the cure but to shun her is sickness,

14. No wonder, since after seeing her
My heart had neither letter saad nor baa nor raa,

15. Slender waist, if her tresses are unleashed
Over her body they are waves in the night,

16. Honey-lipped, polished her cheeks
As if her saliva is honey and pure white,

17. She sways drunkenly like a delicate branch
Charming of glance, intoxicated of look, soft,

18. My misery is that her aloofness emaciated me
And to shun her has no appeasement in this life,

19. Capricious, no lasting covenant with her
A day, no fidelity or keeping promises,

20. So soft she seems to flow if she sits
As if her body is made of soft water,

21. White, delighted with the beauty of her form
After her my heart is clad in black,

22. Perfection of beauty resides in her qualities
She blossomed like a garden full of melody,

23. Her teeth are pearls and her necklace pearls
Her face a moon and her waist slender,

24. She got lost in infatuation from the beauty that intoxicates her
None but her is praised and flattered,

25. She rejected me and so my liver dissolved with passion
And tears flowed like rain showers,

26. May the protector of the desolate, Abu Al-Hayja' aid me
When the days oppress me with their calamities,

27. I'm certain the son of the Sultan, the Imam, is for us
A copious sea, and for the people alternations,

28. O you who, when the two armies meet, are a voracious lion
And you present to morals whatever you wish,

29. O you who smiles gently at the weak
While your palm is bloody,

30. O you who is stingy with wealth yet is brother
To reproach, as if the essence of wealth is enemies,

31. O you who when views conflict, resolves them
With an opinion like Indian steel in decisiveness,

32. And when the hands of time treat us unjustly
You have generosity and giving,

33. And when wars rage fiercely in turmoil
You surge in the seas of death undraped,

34. A death that death itself flees in fear of you
A king whom ambition in kingship wearies,

35. You see him formidable among the valiant, a stallion
His face illuminated and radiant,

36. He maneuvers the affairs however he wills
While the orbit of time is blind to its states,

37. Brave lion of the gardens, peerless in
Signs, his life in ease and hardship the same,

38. A lineage nurtured from a stock that towered
Proudly over the summit of glorious heights,

39. O you who is called like your name, for you
Without contention all people are sons!
