1. O my eye, be generous with tears as streams
For sorrow must inflict a blow everlasting,

2. And shed blood after the tears have flowed
So we fulfill the rights of what is required

3. And O soul, melt away in sorrow and gloom
For the loss of the peerless, learned, perfect man

4. For the loss of one whose face adorned
Creation, and whose traces graced every place

5. For the loss of the unmatched, generous soul
Of fine manners, just, magnanimous deeds

6. For the loss of the unparalleled righteous one
Scion of Sa'id, son of the generous, noble ones

7. He brought knowledge and wisdom to all people
Thus he gained insight above every ruler

8. A refuge for the defeated, and death to the aggressive
Hope for the oppressed, and end of the unjust

9. Kind to the learned, devout and pious
Harsh towards the wicked and unjust people

10. He advanced the noble law, honoring
And glory, ennobling all who came

11. He saved the people from the woes of misery
With knowledge, vigilance, never sleeping

12. He resisted the wicked, the ignorant and sinners
Never heeding blame from critics in God's cause

13. I will weep for him, anguished, forever
With copious tears flowing down my cheeks

14. No wonder I spend my days in grief
For who else shares in my lament?

15. He who once kept secrets is now
Scattered, laid bare, no more concealing

16. May God water the one who was a Kaaba of knowledge
Now fallen, his remembrance heard in dirges

17. Perhaps the belly of the earth envies its surface
To be honored by one who stood vigil, fasting

18. The face of religion, knowledge and guidance
Has turned gloomy, frowning, no longer smiling

19. O what a calamity that befell our time
Mightiest of tragedies, greatest of all

20. But God's decree cannot be avoided
However He decides, He is the Wisest Judge

I ask my God to settle his soul

22. In Gardens with the beautiful, splendid maidens
And let him dwell in Gardens of Eternity

23. With pleasant life, enduring forever
Patience, O Imam of Muslims, for his loss

24. You faced misfortunes with strong determination
You, desired rain, vanquisher of enemies

25. Far-reaching, progeny of the fierce lions
He is the King, Sultan bin Saif bin Malik

26. The guiding Imam, the pure, son of warriors
A young man busy with acts of kindness

27. Freely giving gifts, smiling warmly
