1. God has granted you kingship and power
And glory that defeats generations

2. O ally of the sublime, God has chosen you
The most virtuous leader of all people

3. You, you are the noble one, father of the generous Arabs
Father of all people, you shall not cease to be

4. O son of the sultan, you are like your name
And the father is disobeyed in his severe son

5. You are our master and we are your servants
We accept your pleasure, always

6. Your palms have overwhelmed us with generosity, so we forgot
Our uncles and cousins when calling upon you

7. You know best our state, if we need
Something from you, asking is no shame

8. We have never seen you a moment
Except your light greeting us on the hills

9. People shine in your blessed countenance
With beauty that puts speech to shame

10. O son of the sultan, our sword, if we see
You unsheathed, all become useless

11. You are mighty in decree, but where do you ascend when
The noble have become your sandal-bearers?

12. Whoever attains your affection hopes
Ease from you, fearing no decrease

13. No man has assumed praising you
Except he becomes, through merit, in the best state

14. O son of one whose palm pours rain
And in war puts coats of mail to shame

15. Inspiration has granted me verses about you
So I presented this praise of you, improvised

16. You have a patience that humiliates firm mountains
You surpass men among men

17. A radiant youth that dims the sun
And renown that makes children gray

18. Or, a light - if you divided it among the people
Of the world, you'd find no stingy one

19. We have seen no king equal you
Valuing his servants and peers

20. All thank you for your merit when you
Bestow on them your plentiful favors

21. How would creation not thank a sultan
Whose blessings on them are unceasing?

22. By my Lord, east and west I roamed
And met people, throng after throng

23. I found none loyal to you in affection
Pure of heart, pleasing my ears

24. By my life, the ungrateful openly
Praise you for merit, mere prattling

25. We do not differ in recalling your merit, but
We have not struggled in religion, arguing

26. I present you a gift, offerings exchanged
In praising one who assumes the finest clothes

27. I built a thought as if ten thoughts
Deserving favor and welcome

28. It surpassed the proud and exceeded the satisfied
It was majestic in appearance and lost in beauty

29. So lend an ear when it speaks
Praising you, compliant

30. You match it, so be generous, since it came
To you seeking drink from the cup

31. Its father before, while still young
Attained from you esteem and reverence

32. He still resides in your presence
Wherever you are, ever attending

33. This is the pinnacle of praise - so whoever wishes
Let him say this, else tedium

34. Live, delight of eyes, an age, for
Your hands have built up wealth and defeated enemies

35. Remain as long as doves moan
And the devoted cry out in ruins
