1. The beloved neighbor departed in sorrow
So he became a comrade of youth after him

2. And he started torturing his heart and inner self
With his love, his abandonment, and his aloofness

3. So the body settled in Tihama because of him
While the heart was absent in his Najd

4. A light that when the gazelle saw his face
She bounced away like the bouncing of her curly hair

5. An amazing gazelle whose pasture is the wilderness
He reflected the suns with his light and his fortune

6. This one who captures minds with his words
And with his glance, his light, and his roses

7. And with his waist, his throat, and his lips
And with his abandonment, his distance, and his height

8. And with his heart, his flirtation, and his beauty
And his softness, his perfection, and his breasts

9. And with his nobility, his glance, and his justice
And with his injustice, the light of his jeweled necklace

10. And with his cheek, his beauty, and his eyelash
And with his rejection, his embrace, and his army

11. Amazing is an eyelash that talks to the innards
And the livers while it is sheathed in its case

12. It deafens the hearts of lovers when it appears
Or if it blinks in the tresses of his cloak

13. He attained all beauty in his description
And I rave with love and passion for him

14. He never stopped granting me distance and did not find
Any resolve for the patience from his jesting

15. How would it harm our beloved and dear friend
If he were, oh you, truthful to his promise

16. How many blamers have faulted me for loving him
And advised me with their advice and guidance

17. And I say but do not incline away from passion
Like the generous did not tire of his giving

18. Do not blame a young man whose heart was melted
By magnificent love and he exerted his effort

19. Will you blame me and I have sworn an oath
By its Lord I will not divert from his love

20. And I love his features and good manners
I loved him, my friend, in his cradle

21. How can I be saved when my mind is with him
I always kept supplying him

22. His blackness and whiteness took the heart
He would not be harmed if he was generous with his refuge

23. If this is my killer and torturer
Then I am the one satisfied with his aim

24. So decree, oh Owner, what you will of fate
For Allah does what He wills with His servant

25. No good in free man persisting on sin
If he possessed this time with his army

26. When he became arrogant from the path of guidance
No good in this or in his glory

27. The best leadership is from one who obeyed His God
And became to Him compliant in his asceticism

28. Indeed one who blocked from the path of guidance
Will be scorned in his life or in his grave

29. And I asked my Lord to bestow with His bounty
Upon the believers who stand with His praise
