1. They say patience for a man is a virtue
This is well-known, but the matter does not succeed

2. Yet I see that if patience lasts long
It brings worries and sorrows that weigh down the heart

3. And there are perplexing matters, impassable obstacles
That are too narrow for one who desires righteousness and openness

4. And there are splitting pains, tremendous difficulties
That almost break the back with their intensity

5. Until the hopeful one sees his wishes fulfilled
Through patience in his days, his life expires

6. If there is eternity in this world - far from it!
Otherwise why would patience ruin the body?

7. Patience is nothing but forbidden sin
And obeying my Lord al-Rahman is the reward
