1. Old age made my heart extremely dull
And caused me to envy the youth out of jealousy
١. الشَيبُ أَسكَنَ قَلبي غايَةَ الكَمَدِ
وَمَدَّ عَيني إِلى الشِبّانِ بِالحَسَدِ
2. It is enough that when that gray hair came
I was content to be its guard with my hand
٢. يَكفيهِمُ أَنَّ ذاكَ الشَيبُ حينَ تَدا
رَضيتُ أَنّي لِحَتفي خافِرٌ بِيَدي
