Ask the gazelle of the valley, who has lost her fawn,

1. Ask the gazelle of the valley, who has lost her fawn,
Is there one not fit for a fire whose coals blaze up at lament?

2. And say to the sand grouse of Arak, when you are with her,
"I have as much longing as you when I lose a friend."

3. Alas! One like me, enamored with passion,
Is seen every day babbling deliriously.

4. My two friends, ask the caravan, out of need,
About Nejd, for we have come to know it well.

5. Do not blame me for kissing sand grouse,
If she leans towards me, I have learned tenderness.
