1. A rose on the cheek, not a rose in the garden
It suits the flower to call with authority

2. How many roses last forever smiling
While a rose does not exceed the month of April

3. A rose we plucked with sights and amazed
From a cheek of waters and fires

4. It greeted an infant, greeting revives
And glance is tempted by it every coquette

5. A gazelle disdains likening its stature
Ignorantly preferring cane to acacia

6. Its folds met from a cup wherein is a loved one
Pearl to pearl and coral to coral

7. On its cheek marks, just as
My eyelids tears marked on my cheek

8. It said and the lost one folds his cloak
Ibn Muqla’s line met Raihan’s line

9. I complain of his love so he complains of mine to him
So he made me laugh when he made me cry

10. As if he, while arguing with me
Took jurisprudence from my master Sharwan

11. Master of masters, delighted his mattress
And stood by the truth secretly and openly

Unlike what was inscribed by Uthman ibn Affan

13. In his chest is the light of knowledge adorned by deeds
Like fruits appeared over branches

14. God molded him from gentleness, so he shined upon us
As if an angel in human body

15. Bright foreheaded, long handed, capable
Attained the two beauties, of goodness and benefaction

16. His morals a paradise, good its plantations
Therein fruits of palm and pomegranate

17. As if he, while in his office’s diwan
Abu Hanifa in prayer’s diwan

18. Giving edicts ruled accordingly confidently
In every place dominated by Uthman’s family

19. Who can I get David’s rhythm to eulogize
The one who gained wisdom from Solomon

20. I tracked his rulings in what I claimed of him
I did not establish an argument save with proof
