1. Grief for him narrowed as we were overwhelmed
Like water, the roses piled up till cut off

2. Death springs up daily after its night
But words do not spring up as they did

3. Each day it is said, morning oh what a pity
Zayd and Amr died in the evening, following

4. Above the soil, mountains of its pebbles
And below it the likes of us gathered

5. Mankind are death’s game, it eats them voraciously
Yet it knows not satiation

6. The earth swallows bodies entirely
Its interior is not filled by what it swallowed

7. Lighten upon the heart a worry or joy in it
Both will soon leave together

8. Between a day and night we are between them
Thousands pass and we forget all that transpired

9. One of us may plant crops not to harvest
And another harvests crops not by him planted

10. And gather wealth by his toil and sweat
Then spend it not the one who gathered

11. Today, Ibrahim's house has evaded him
Lost is what he built in it and manufactured

12. Leaving the house lamenting its owner’s absence
And money, family, friends and followers

13. His nights were like festivals, bustling
With people's faces, socializing and sitting

14. Delegations would stay up at his door
Dawn would not rise but it was knocked

15. He was beneficial to people when well
But when death came, that healing was of no use

16. He would heal people’s wounds, so will he
Heal the wounds of a heart after him split?

17. He went to his Lord the Forgiver, trusting
The path he strove on, nearing to Him

18. He kept racing to goals with his resolve
Until he surpassed the time allotted

19. That soul travelled to God, leaving
A body lying in the earth’s dust

20. All returned to their origin transformed
So this descended and that ascended
