1. The full moon rose from the west,
Whoever saw this and was not amazed,

2. The sea came riding on the sea,
In the sail of a good ship.

3. A person, when he comes towards you,
Yet from him comes a procession.

4. In every art and every tongue you see,
He is the Imam, the founder of schools.

5. He knows what no scholar knows,
Reading what was never written.

6. In his heart is honest insight,
That neither deceives the eye nor lies.

7. The circle of wisdom, his pens,
The pillars of truth on his shoulders.

8. He encompassed knowledge and its mysteries,
Like a halo encompasses a planet.

9. And he almost exhausted the languages of the world,
From a dictionary in them and from an Arab.

10. An idea brings the matter to his mind,
Grasping the furthest with the nearest.

11. His intuition has dignity and composure,
Refusing to initiate speech with flattery.

12. He pardons according to his power, suppressing anger
From his clemency against the wrathful gaze.

13. He contrives to leave a sin, so if
It was, in the apology of the sinner.

14. A refined charm, like the morning breeze,
Guides the dew, the good smell of amber.

15. Vast nobility, chest, resolve, neither
Eloquence, nor house fail the generous father.

16. If the best of people is he who benefits people,
Then say this and do not waver.

17. And perhaps it annoyed an envier of him,
Exhausting him running, and he did not tire.

18. O you wearing the garment of black, as
The full moon wears the dress of absentness.

19. You stirred in me after resolve poetry
And passion, long ago in the impassioned that was nurtured.

20. And poetry is like a stallion in its nature,
If the tether is long, it is not ridden.
