1. Was it partings I thought it was or a meeting
A stopover at Al Ubayriqayn in the evening

2. I was hopeful of it but when
It came upon me I gave up that hope

3. I've always been certain of purity
But today I do not hope for purity

4. The healthy do not suddenly think of illness
And if they fall ill do not think of healing

5. O son of our uncle, go easy on us
Are we not all strangers?

6. If today in the land we parted
Soon we will leave this world

7. Hardship and bliss come upon man
And each goes from whence he came

8. A people lived in luxury and a people in calamity
Then they died flying off and went equal

9. O wanderer, you wish
If time persisted, bread and water

10. And if time is good do not be deceived
And know that it has done evil

11. And he who knows the truth is not tested
By illness nor treats illness

12. Like our father and our sheikh Son of Al-Shirabi
In whom it is proven lies the cure

13. The speaker of word and deed rightly guided
Innermost thought as it appears

14. His eye surrendered and no doubt in it
It is one which the limbs surrender

15. O you wearing black, and there is no escape
If you were to follow the caliphs

16. You are in our land the caliph of Jesus
And for you is the kingdom when heaven comes

17. God created in you a spirit of gentleness
And a body of splendor wherever He willed

18. So if you speak or act that is the
Essence the unique that amazes the wise

19. Do not ask me for the right of praise and come
Every day with what prolongs praise

20. I have nothing but blackness of ink
Can that suffice for that white hand?

21. We did not praise you, but spoke the truth of you when
We said of you the truth and sufficed of error

22. And with what does the youth boast to the full moon
If he says that it illuminated?
