1. The hearts grieve for the stranger, the stranger
Till they almost melt for him

2. And death in reality is one
But the style makes distinction between it

3. We see everyone on the road a traveller
Forever, and no one do we see returning

4. O journey whose distance from its abode
Is far from us, and its day is near

5. Surprising is he who becomes evening and morning afraid
Of his death while life is good for him

6. A cloudiness has covered the eyes of hearts
So that a fool and wise man become equal

7. The youth spends his days in heedlessness
And blames every heedless one and finds faults

8. Vanity has included people until he who
Guides is lost and the curing doctor melted

9. Say to the preacher over crowds, have you benefited them
With advice, but who upon you is the preacher

10. If the preacher's work is not like his words
Then who is it that calls him and he responds

11. O you whom we name the beloved, and he
Is a man the beloved of every heart

12. You were absent from us in the soil and it was not
The custom of stars to be absent in the soil

13. Will the ear win any hearing from you
If the eye gets no share from you

14. O estrangement that lengthened upon you with estrangement
Its trailing tail pulled over you

15. You left a quarter that hoped for return
Not knowing its hope would fail

16. If you travelled not bidding farewell
Then hearts chased and bade you farewell

17. Upon you from the Overseer is mercy
Its poured rain waters your tomb

18. You used to please God as per His Book
So satisfaction for you in His Tablet is written
