1. The raven of separation flew swiftly at dawn
It fluttered with the joy of a little child

2. It came to hunt one day and snatched you away
Like a fruit from the lush tree

3. God melted your heart out of a raven
That ate the seed of the broken heart

4. You returned today to drink tears’ water
With it, you had no need for river water

5. You made a pledge not to spare young or old
Nor pardon the frail elder

6. You spread your wings over the people of this world
And another in the sky over the eagles

7. Upon you is your Lord’s peace, o little one
You traveled to the shrine from the bed

8. We neglected you, did not give you provisions
So your heart was your provision on the journey

9. Sorrow for you has no equal
Because you had no equal

10. In your two years of life you attained maturity
As if you lived for years

11. We were keen for you to live healthy for us
But keenness was futile

12. When will a weeping one console you each day
And find the hellfire of sa’eer in his heart

13. Hearts will console you, yes, but when
They become dust in graves

14. The light of your heart gave you good sense
So you did not cling to the deceptive world

15. You saw people on a long journey
So you said the view is better on the short one
