1. If the reward of kindness ever fails,
Do not neglect to offer abundant thanks.

2. The best thanks is when you pen a line -
For it endures for generations to come.

3. I owe debts of gratitude that can't be repaid,
Even if allotted over a lengthy lifetime.

4. But their Lord is forgiving and generous,
So He pardons me and is pleased with little.

5. Peace be upon noble Jerusalem -
Echoed morning and night without cease.

6. The noble one descended upon the noble,
So honor the dwellings and the visitor.

7. A messenger - even if we don't know his sender -
Shows us their merit through the messenger's merit.

8. Does the dawn stay hidden to one with vision,
Requiring the daytime as guide?

9. From the overflow of His fervent zeal we have
A courtyard in which we take shade and shelter.

10. Like Egypt's Nile overflowing each year,
From it comes a flood each day without fail.

11. True generosity is not in wealth,
But in amiability and acceptance.

12. If the generous wears a sullen face,
How sweet is amiability in one stingy!
