1. One whose ransom is paid by thousands

He is the lord of valor, and we are his guests

2. Wherever he went, fortunes were soldiers

Around him, and safety his companion

3. When he visited, autumn became spring
And when he was absent, spring became autumn

4. When he was generous, he was the Nile
And wherever he settled was countryside

5. His mind gathered opinion with certainty

As letters gather into speech

6. It was as if brigades came from his Turos (poetic book)
And as if in it were swords

7. It was as if the world for him was a boy

Who stood at his door, so dwelling was pleasant

8. And as if time before him

Was a pilgrim circling the Sacred House

9. Diligent in pursuing all that is noble

The wolf and lamb together would graze

10. And poems would hasten to him

Wishing they alone were his duty

11. With him bounties were weighty, narrated
By a sea of gentle praise for him

12. That is a downpour, and this a meadow near it

Whose blooms flourish, and clusters draw near
