1. The young man offered warm milk
And in his goblets was the life of souls
١. فَحماً قَدَّم الغُلامُ فَأَهدى
في كَوانينه حَياةَ النُفوسِ
2. It was like unflavored apricot juice
Yet it became, tinted like apricot juice
٢. كانَ كَالآبَنوسِ غَيرَ مَحَلّىً
فَغَدا وَهُوَ مُذهَبُ الآبَنوسِ
3. It met fire in the clothes of mourning
And dyed him in the colors of a bride
٣. لَقى النارَ في ثِيابِ حِدادٍ
فَكَسَتهُ مُصَبَّغاتِ عَروسِ
