1. The narcissus no longer has its whiteness of chalice,
Nor its yellowness of fragrance.
١. وَنَرجِسٌ لَم يَعدُ مِبيَضُّهُ ال
كَأسَ وَلا أَصفُرُهُ الراحا
2. It seems like goblets of crystal
Containing yellow drink.
٢. تَخالُ أَقحافَ لُجَينٍ حَوَت
مِن أَصفَرِ العَسجَدِ أَقداحا
3. As if you were gently conveying greetings
To souls, O souls!
٣. كَأَنَّما تَهدي التَحايا بِهِ
لطفاً إِلى الأَرواحِ أَرواحا
4. It distracts from roses when we pass by
And leaves behind musk when it blows.
٤. يُلهي عَنِ الوَردِ إِذا مارَنا
وَيُخلِفُ المِسكَ إِذا فاحا
5. Love it from a traveling visitor
Whose sorrows were compensated with joys.
٥. أَحبِب بِهِ مِن زائِرٍ راحِلٍ
عُوَّضَ بِالأَحزانِ أَفراحا
6. Seize the opportunity in its nearness
And be comfortable with pleasures.
٦. فَاِنتَهِز الفُرصَةَ في قُربِهِ
وَكُن إِلى اللَذّاتِ مُرتاحا
7. Bring it, a virgin who was not milked
Except at night the dawn returns.
٧. وَهاتها عَذراءَ لَم تُفتَرَع
في اللَيلِ إِلّا عادَ إِصباحا
8. It's as if each daughter whose goblets
Contained lamps bearing light.
٨. كَأَنَّما كُلُّ بَناتٍ حَوَت
كاساتُها تَحمِلُ مِصباحا
9. And wink your eyelashes from my cheeks
At its keeper, a rose and an apple.
٩. وَاِجنِ بِأَلحاظِكِ مِن وَجنَتي
مُديرِها وَرداً وَتُفّاحا
