1. Neither does poverty affect his state,
Nor does fate aspire to thwart his aims.
١. فَما يَقدَحُ الفَقرُ في حالِهِ
وَلا يَطمَعُ الدَهرُ في قَصدِهِ
2. How could it, when he has become a guest of the clouds,
And is near though distant he remains.
٢. وَكَيفَ وَقَد صارَ ضَيفَ الغَمامِ
وَهُوَ قَريبٌ عَلى بُعدِهِ
3. Whose mind was gifted by Abu Taghlib,
His hands copied the full moon in its glory.
٣. وَمَن عَقَلَت بِأَبي تَغلِبُ
يَداهُ اِحتَذى البَدرَ مِن سَعدِهِ
4. Hammam whom Allah had ordained,
To the Emirate while in his cradle.
٤. همامٌ قَضى اللَهُ مِن عَرشِهِ
لَهُ بِالإِمارِةِ في مَهدِهِ
5. In his hands lies the mantle of leadership,
And the sun of supremacy in his cloak.
٥. فَطودُ السِيادَةِ في دَستِهِ
وَشَمسُ الرِياسَةِ في بُردِهِ
